Finally, after a couple of days struggling with error 0x80070002 – 0x20007, I’ve succeeded in installing Win10 1607 update. What I have done so far:

    1. Re-downloaded and built (physically) another USB installation drive with MS Media Creation Tool on the other PC, choosing the proper Windows version and language.
    2. Connected this drive to the tablet with different OTG hub (not that, bundled with the tablet). No keyboard and mouse, only OTG hub with USB drive.
    3. From under Win10, started setup from USB drive, asked to keep all my files and settings.

The upgrade went seamlessly and took about an hour or so. All the drivers are in place and show no errors. Will see, if there are any problems with WiFi or SD card.

Finally solved by myself: completely re-installed (Android + Windows)

I have to combine some steps:

    1. I download X98 Pro K9C6 Bios 1.13 EMMC Fix (5.1 MiB) and I follow the instructions there – DONE
    2. I use support&firmware files from Geegbuying.com : http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Teclast-X98-Air-II-9-7–Dual-OS-Win8—Android-4-4-Tablet-PC-Intel-Z3736F-Quad-Core-2-16GHz-2048-1536-IPS-Screen-2GB-64G-HDMI-Bluetooth-WiFi—Sliver-350953.html
    3. I flashed the tablet and install Android only. So I had Android only – no Windows. Installig Windows was not succesfull from this site so to install Windows I use another procedure
    4. Use this tool to make an install USB drive: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 (Make sure you select a 64bit version.)
    5. X98 PRO Driver Win10 Teclast Drivers Pack (209.6 MiB) download + extrat the files to th USB drive with Windows 10 (step 4)
    6. USB hub connected to tablet with USB drive with Windows 10 + keyboard + mouse
    7. Swith on tablet – you should get dual boot screen with Android + “W” (blue)
    8. Click “W”
    9. System should install Windows (touch screen doesnt work still – keep going to install Windows)
    10. Install drivers – !!! you need to install this as administrator (I did mistake here)
    11. To restore the touch screen. Move the touchsetting.gt file (in the drivers download) after installing the goodix driver to C:/Windows/inf and reboot.
    12. DONE!
    13. Everything works fine – only Camera in Windows was not working so I download driver for camera, restarted tablet and after this everything is FINE!

If you need help, you can write me personal message.

Some of you guys have been wanting a version of Linux which does not require touching/installing to your HD, modifying your partions, and can just run from a USB drive. There are probably various, but one lesser known Linux distro I just discovered has persistent live-USB mode built into it. So all you have to do is burn the ISO to a USB stick as usual and then once you boot it up you can enable persistent mode. No need to install anything extra. It’s called Antix and is an easy to install distro based on Debian and the latest Antix-16 has the Linux kernel 4.4 (same as Ubuntu 16.04 and LinuxMint v18). So in theory you should be able to upgrade the kernel to the latest (4.8-rc2 at the time of this post) to test if it has fixes for your wifi, audio, etc. Antix is supposedly also a very small/light and fast distro so that should work better on the slower Atom devices, in theory, provided the kernel supports it. IMO Antix is not as polished UI as say LinuxMint, but it has other benefits as you will see.

    Video Intro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8Aw2zzBE-g
    Short Video Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CII-vqdq7BY
    Antix Main Page: http://antix.mepis.org/
    Antix-16 64bit ISO download on Sourceforge: https://sourceforge.net/projects/antix-linux/files/Final/antiX-16/antiX-16_x64-full.iso/download

Burn ISO to USB normally – eg., Rufus on Windows, Unetbootin on Linux, or various other tools.

OPtional: Install to HD walk-through (though it’s on a virtual machine not bare metal): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOTUk69sQNU

    @Rimantas

I have tried the USB WiFİ(rtl8188cu) module in Win10. It is working good but the range is quite short due to small antenna of the module.

In Android, it did not detected by system.

Hi dvdfreak thanks a lot. it worked with Rufus. If others want to upgrade please be aware that you have to use Rufus with an SD Card, then put the SD-Card into the tablet, then start the setup from the SD-Card. and put in a power cable into the USB slot as the update takes quite a while (more than 3 hours) and you run out of battery otherwise before it’s finished. Using the USB OTG adapter and an USB stick (created with Rufus) will correctly start the update but will never finish as you run out of battery during the update process and then Win10 switches back to the old version and is not updating correctly best regards Günter

How to install driver touchscreen and wifi?
    I can’t install it.

The plus 2 works fine in windows although you will need to use some work-arounds to get Anniversary edition loaded (takes at least 2 hours and requires a temporary  external USB storage).

WiFi seems to work better in Windows than Android.

    Battery life is quite decent.

My Android experience is disappointing as I am unable to get OTA updates installed successfully even though Teclast is easily able at will to push their ads to the device.

    Teclast customer service is non-existent.

Hi. I’m new to this forum and just recently acquired chuwi hi12 dual boot.can somebody please make tutorial, step by step, what to do , to completely replace stock android with remix OS 3.0 , with WiFi, sound and touchscreen working…also, what steps to take afterwards to install twrp recovery and how to root remix OS 3.0….thanks everyone for their time and effort in advance

This is Remix 2.0, I’m not sure if or when Chuwi will compile the drivers for 3.0 but it still has some good improvements over stock Android.

You need the Intel Phone Flash tool. You can find download link and tutorial on the Chuwi forum:

    http://forum.chuwi.com/thread-1407-1-1.html

I found it’s not necessary to go into dnx boot mode unless Android is not booting, otherwise just boot Android with USB debugging enabled and when you start flashing from the tool it will automatically reboot to the correct mode.

EDIT : THE GUIDE PROVED TO BE NOT CORRECT.. IT CAN MAKE YOUR TABLET TO BRICK.. PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS NOW.. UNTIL I FIGURE OUT WHAT IS THE PROBLEM

    DEAR ALL

    GOOD DAY

AFTER MANY FAILED ATTEMPTS AND GOOD NUMBER OF BRICKS I FINALLY MANAGED TO GET REMIX OS 2 WORKING ON MY TYPE-C CUBE IWORK 10 (TCL).. I WILL TRY TO SAVE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME BY WRITING THIS TUTORIAL 🙂

THIS IS MY FIRST GUIDE, SO PLEASE DO NOT EXPECT SOMETHING FANCY , AND FORGIVE ME IF I RUIN YOUR UNIT ;P.

MY DEVICE IS TYPE C VERSION BUT THIS SHOULD WORK  WITH THE OTHER VERSIONS TOO AS FAR AS AS I KNOW.

MOST PROBABLY THIS IS GOING TO VOID YOUR WARRANTY – if any – AND WILL ALSO EXCLUDES YOU FROM FUTURE OTA UPDATES.

SO FIRSTLY:  WHAT THE HELL IS REMIX OS?

REMIX OS IS MODIFIED PORT OF ANDROID, DEVELOPED BY JIDE, THAT HAS MANY AMAZING WINDOWS-LIKE FEATURES, SUCH AS MULTITASKING, WINDOWS, TASKBAR, MOUSE RIGHT CLICK SUPPORT AND MORE, I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO TRY THIS OS.

    NOW, HERE IS THE BEGINNING.

BASICALLY THERE ARE TWO METHODS TO INSTALL REMIX OS :

    1. EITHER BY INSTALLING IT THROUG WINDOWS PART, DEPENDING ON REMIX INSTALLATION TOOL AND REMIX FOR PC ISO: this method has many downsides as alot of wireless and bluetooth cards are not supported by the os.
    2. THE OTHER METHOD IS BY FLASHING REMIX VIA ADB “OR INTEL FLASH TOOL” REPLACING YOUR ANDROID: the only downside of this way is that you lose your android +/- android apps and data – but anyway  you can make backup and restore your apps and data.

WE ARE GOING TO  DO IT USING THE 2ND METHOD

    THE GENERAL IDEA:

THE IDEA IS TO FLASH JUST SYSTEM.IMG FROM REMIX OS ROM FOR ANY CHERRY TRAIL TABLET WITH ALMOST SEMILIAR SPECIFICATIONS  “I USED TECLAST X98PLUS” .. IF YOU ARE EXPERT GO AND DO IT .. IF YOU ARE NEWBI SEE THE STEPS DOWN.

    STEPS:

YOU ARE DOING THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK.. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE OF ANY BRICKED UNITS, MALFUNCTIONS, LOSING DATA, THERMONUCLEAR WAR OR YOUR CAT GETTING PREGNANT.

MOST PROBABLY YOU WILL LOSE OTA UPDATES AND WARRANTY – if any – BY DOING THIS PROCEDURE

    PRE-REQUREMENT
    – Minimal adb – you can find it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790 CREDIT TO shimp208 FROM XDA
    – USB DRIVERS FOR IWORK 10 .. FIND IT SOMEWHERE IN THIS SITE
    – OBVIOUSLY CUBE I WORK 10 AND USB/TYPE C CABLE

NOW YOU ARE READY TO GO:

    1. BE SMARTER THAN ME AND MAKE FULL BACKUP OF YOUR EMMC USING CLONEZILLA OR WHAT EVER.
    2. MAKE BACKUP FOR YOUR ANDROID DATA USING TITANIUM OR TWRP.
    3. IN YOUR PC: DOWNLOAD REMIX OS FROM: https://mega.nz/#F!nYBXUIxB!W_wQ53Mr6yVxAXGlPWxkZw CREDIT TO Maxximo88 from xda “open foler “file singoli” and download only one file that starts with “images-factory……. .zip”
    4. UNPACK THE ZIP FILE TO SHORT DIRECTORY e.g: C:\REMIXCUBE.
    5. INSTALL MINIMAL ADB TOOL THEN COPY ADB FOLDER  CONTENTS  “adb.exe, fastboot.exe, ADBWINAPI AND ADBWINUSBAPI”  TO C:\REMIXCUBE\
    6. OPEN C:\REMIXCUBE\ DIRECTORY AND OPEN CMD FROM THERE “by holding shift with right click then choose open command window here”
    7. TURN ON YOUR TABLET.. BOOT INTO RECOVERY “by holding volume down button immediately after choosing android in boot OS selection”
    8. CONNECT YOUR TABLET TO PC “using USB or type c cable according to device version”
    9. GO TO YOUR PC AND IN THE OPEN CMD TYBE “adb” WITHOUT QUOTES.
    10. TYPE “adb devices” WITHOUT QUOTES .. YOU SHOULD SEE MESSAGE LIKE “0123456789ABCDEF         device” .. INDICATED THAT YOUR TABLET IS CONNECTED AND SEEN BY PC.
    11. TYPE “fastboot oem unlock”.. THE RESPONSE WILL BE  EITHER “UNLOCKED” OR “THE DEVICE IS ALREADY IN THE REQUIRED STATUS”..  depending on if you have already unlocked your bootloader or not.
    12. TYPE “fastboot flash system system.img”.. WAIT UNTIL FLASHING ENDS THEN REBOOT YOUR DEVICE.
    13. IN OS SELECTION CHOOSE ANDROID.
    14. ENJOY REMIX OS. 🙂  “hope that you are still reading :p”

ps if android doesn’t boot you may need to flash modified boot.img as per Laura how to thread.. thanks Hans Sprungfeld

FINALLY FLASHING REMIX WITH THE ABOVE METHOD SHOULD NOT DELETE YOUR APPS AND DATA BUT ANYWAY MAKE BACKUP BEFORE FLASHING.

ROOTING REMIX OS IS SIMILAR TO ROOTING STOCK ANDROID ROM.. YOU FLASH THE MODIFIED BOOT.IMG AND THEN UPDATE SUPERSU VIA TWRP.. HOWEVER ROOTING YOUR REMIX WILL DELETE APPS AND DATA – or at least this what happened with me- MAKE SURE TO HAVE YOUR BACKUP BEFORE ROOTING.

    WHAT IS WORKING?: almost everything:
    – wifi: working.
    – bluetooth: working.
    – sound: working.
    -touchscreen: working.
    – brightness control: working.
    – sd card: working.
    – battery indicator: working

    WHAT IS NOT WORKING:
    – auto rotation: not working. a simple workaround is this great app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.crape.rotationcontrol
    – touchpad: working but stops all the time
    – camera: not working.

USING THIS OS IS A REALLY GREAT EXPERINCE .. I JUST WANTED TO SHARE THE JOY WITH YOU.

I WOULD LIKE TO ENCOURAGE MORE PEOPLE TO TRY FLASHING PORTS OF REMIX MADE FOR THE OTHER CHERRY TRAIL TABLETS TO FIND OUT THE MOST COMPATIBLE PORT WITH CUBE IWORK 10.. YOU CAN FIND THE OTHER PORTS IN JIDE OFFICIAL WEBSITE- SUPPORTED  DEVICES SECTION.. I ALSO HOPE THAT THIS TABLET GET OFFICIAL SUPPORT FROM JIDE AND HAS ITS OWN ROM/PORT RELEASED BY JIDE.

THIS IS ALL WHAT I HAVE .. THANK YOU FOR READING

I did mine and had no Wi-Fi issues. Are you using the factory one? I upgraded mine to a mini USB!

Can you use the MIni USB WIFI in Android?  I would like to be able to use my 5ghz on my network, but I have heard it is difficult to get a wifi usb working in Android.

Yoo friends, received my 2 TBook 10 this morning after 1 month and 10 days (Gearbest’s French Express, Express my ass) (no keyboard yet)

1.So first impression: Wow so small bezels!!! (That felst good coming from a Chuwi VI10)

    2. Great build quality, all metal, (maybe too much, where’s the WiFi going ??) very well put together though

    3. First power up, great screen quality very sharp (especially coming from a VI10)

THERE COMES THE ISSUES (that i resolved for some of them)

I precise i don’t give a shit about Android so Windows issues:

    1. Poor WiFi signal (Obviously, they didn’t even put a slice of plastic) Dr Obvious
    2. WiFi itself is bugging, even with my external dongle
    3. Overall it felt laggy
    4. The battery calibration seems a little fucked up but with time it will do fine (my VI10 did the same)
    5. WTF, the speakers are laaaaammme

    PROBLEMS SOLVED

Mainly by installing a fresh Windows (go see my TUTORIAL), WiFi instability is gone (still weak signal thoug)

Very reactive and pleasant to use.

    CONCLUSION

Excellent tablet, but they really messed up the WiFi signal. They have should put some plastic on the back cover, it wouldn’t hurt anyone.

But excpect that, design is great, built quality excellent, sharp screen, good touch pannel (KDMF), HDMI works great, no interference with the audio jack, the DC charge is great, the micro usb free all the time, charges fast, very handy. But WTF with the speakers??!!

    Do you agree with me?

Hey friends! Litlle tutorial on how to install Windows 10 only on Teclast TBooK 10. Really nothing complicated, but i confirm it is possible and you won’t get in any kind of trouble.

First why i wanted a fresh Windows install? Simple: I don’t want Android, and more importantly i noticed the Windows 10 they put is buggy, kind of laggy, WiFi issues with my livebox, plus it is not fully in French even with language pack.

    You will need

    -Teclast TBooK 10

    -USB Flash Drive

-Docking keyboard or keyboard and mouse, with at least a 3 ports USB hub and an OTG cable

    How to:

    1. You will need to make a bootable USB drive of Windows 10 64bits (with Microsoft’s Mediacreationtool). I personally used Rufus because i already had the iso file (make sure you select uefi only compatible).
    2. Boot tablet in BIOS (or UEFI I should say??) by pressing ESC , then boot manager, then select your flash drive. If you configure it correctly with rufus, you should see it.
    3. Windows installation begins, simply delete all the partition to have only one big fat one and you are good to go!
    4. That’s it! Basically you’ll need the drivers, i basically made my own backup with DoubleDriver before that and and I reinstall them with no issues. Very nice.

I really prefer to make a fresh install of Windows 10. In my opinion it’s the best, you should too

I shrink my windows partition and installed ubuntu 16.04.1 on double boot. Everthing was fine.

Out of the box, wifi, touchpad, sound and battery indicator doesn’t work. I use a mouse and my phone sharing connexion by usb. I updated kernel with 4.7 without any change

    dmesg command is full of

[ 96.346613] ACPI Error: Operand must be Buffer/Integer/String/Package – found type Method (20150930/exoparg1-763)
    [ 96.346632] ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed [\_SB.TCHG.PPPC] (Node ffff88013b109910), AE_AML_OPERAND_TYPE (20150930/psparse-542)

    Any help is appreciated 😉

And…. magically, after a while the WiFi appeared. I did nothing, just a few desperate reboots (F7 boot menu, enetering bios, trying to boot from USB to see if it works and so on). I have no idea why it disappeared as a device and then it appeared…

Have you viewed these? https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=223722&p=1197958#p1197958 https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=223426&p=1198392#p1198392 Also, have you checked for ideas here? http://forum.chuwi.com I’m still dancing with my Hi-12 so can’t help until I understand it all a little better.

I’ve read this thread too and tried commands said there to get WiFi working (downloading from github) and It didn’t work unfortunately 🙁

I’ve read all pages of this thread and I still can’t get my Hi10 working. I have a SINGLE Boot version with blue usb 3.0 port. I can boot any linux distro with nomodeset without onboard WiFi working (I changed everything I could in BIOS, got files from hadess github) and I managed to boot twice Ubuntu with i915.modeset=1 instead ofquiet splash and I couldn’t boot it anymore even doing everything the same way (one boot with nomodeset and then boot with i915.modeset=1). I’ve tried to update i915 drivers while using nomodeset (and using USB WiFi) but it said that they were up to date. I wanted to edit /etc/modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf but I don’t have this file. Anyone mind helping me?

What happens when you try to boot from a Live-USB with Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon 64bit? That is the version most people have had some success booting with.

I’ve tried this distro too and I could boot it only with nomodeset. If i remember correctly I also couldn’t boot it later even with it because I’ve got some problems on startup. I’m not a linux specialist but there’s a part where system “checks” everything giving “OK” marks and there were some errors connected to something network related which were looped. I can try to replicate it and show you screenshots when I come back home. Also, I will try to boot it with different pendrives and using different programs to make it (using Rufus atm) and will post screenshots or videos of how my tablet reacts to certain things.

    Thanks everyone for helping! 🙂

    @edit

I left my tablet charging for a few hours because I couldn’t log into Windows (This device has been locked for security reasons…) and then I tried to boot freshly made Mint 18 with nomodeset and it went smooth. Then I turned hi10 off and tried without changing grub options and… it worked :). After that I turned it off and tried again without changing and I couldn’t boot it (black screen forever). When I tried to boot Windows I saw again that my device is locked. Maybe that’s the reason why I can’t boot it now? Any info how can I work around it?
