I managed to burn the Antergos minimal ISO to USB using dd. Despite the good looks on startup, it gave me a hard time connecting to my wifi router. Checking network connectivity was also not possible because it didn’t have any ping or traceroute tools. I gave up. It isn’t much easier despite the GUI. Someone should teach those guys a thing or two about UX.

This is the install procedure as far as I can recall:
Grab the latest ISO (2017.10.01) from any one of the HTTP direct downloads on the Archlinux page: https://www.archlinux.org/download/
Burn the ISO to a USB drive:
# dd if=archlinux-2017.10.01-x86_64.iso of=/dev/sda bs=64M; sync
Eject the USB and reboot this time from the USB.
Enable wifi:
# wifi-menu
Get the assisted install script:
# wget https://github.com/helmuthdu/aui/tarball/master -O – | tar xz
Switch to the helmuhdu folder and run:
# ./fifo
When the basic Linux install is done and the system reboots, execute the following:
# echo blacklist snd_hdmi_lpe_audio>/etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf
That should prevent the HDMI from interfering with our rt5651 sound driver. Reboot again, switch to the helmuthdu folder and run:
# ./lilo
When you’re done and the system restarts, sound should be controllable from either the Gnome settings or pavucontrol.
The only sound-related thing right now that needs attention is the internal mic not working.

Speakers and headphone will work if you blacklist snd_hdmi_lpe_audio.

Seeing as I have no cursor or a wifi connection I doubt that would work.
When I’m booting my windows 10 USB I can see that the mouse pad doesn’t work. Anyone else had this problem?

in forum EZBook seriesZak Khan
ParticipantSo my Ezbook was delivered yesterday and since I’ve tried everything I could think of to get it up and running. I’ve finally formatted it and its up and running, except I forgot to backup any of the drivers.
At the moment I don’t even have a cursor, wifi etc. I know most of these drivers will be fixed using Windows Update, but seeing as I can’t get online / click I’m not able to do much other than to use keyboard shortcuts to install drivers. I’ve tried a USB mouse but all it does is right click and I can’t see the cursor on the screen.
Anyway I would appreciate it if someone who has a copy of the drivers can upload them here so I can get this thing working.
Thanks,
Zak.

in forum Chuwi Hi12 ForumDutchy
ParticipantWill a USB network dongle work with the Hi12 Dual Boot Z8300 on Windows? And for Android?
I bought this for controlling a Behringer XR18 digital mixer, general consensus is that 5G is more dependable than 2.4 because of the traffic on 2.4.
Anyone have any experience?
September 21, 2017 at 10:39 am #72426Nils thanks for posting too.
I seem to have the same problems, virtually no wifi connection at all. Can you tell me how you managed to remove and swap the antennas? There is also some insulation tape on my laptop at the left part of the case where the antennas are curved in order to fit below the hinge of the monitor.
I had an old wifi b/g/n usb card which I tested and when using it the laptop performs 100% ok on wifi. So the problem is surely with the intel wifi card.
As I dont see every user complaining about wifi speeds I have come to the conclusion that the problem is only related to certain models so I have been in talks with Jumper to send mine back and have it repaired if it can be repaired after all. They still have not gotten back to me on this matter.
September 21, 2017 at 9:47 am #72425it could possibly be related to the wifi antenna, unfortunately i’m having similar internet connectivity issues and wi-fi problems – I’m only a few metres from my wireless router! download speed has dropped to 6Mbps when the internet is working! very disappointing!
I’ve taken the rear cover off and removed the antenna connections then re-connected the antennas but swapped them over. i’ve also placed some insulation tape over the antenna connection as I wonder if they potentially make contact with the aluminum rear cover (there is some flex in the back cover). since doing this my download speed has increased to 20Mbps and upload 6Mbps (this is on par with other devices in the house). i aven’t as yet (touch wood!) had an internet disconnect.
does anyone have any other potential solutions to the wi-fi problem??
I’ve ordered a usb 2.0 wi-fi AC adapter to see if I can get better wi-fi speeds and reliability. I’ve also ordered a new set of antenna to see if improves the wi-fi connectivity. this may take 4 weeks as ordered from aliexpress.
Any other potential solutions? Chris?September 20, 2017 at 5:54 pm #72398In reply to: Can't boot from USB to install Windows 10 on ssd
Dear George,
Thanks very much, using your help I was able to clone the emmc to the ssd and I can boot from the ssd now as the relevant option appears in the bios. I am still puzzled as to why I cannot boot from a usb flash drive prepared with rufus and with windows 10 iso.
Also I have been in contact through Ali Express with the official Jumper support and they initially advised me not to (!) install an ssd as it is not officially recommended by them and can lead to malfunction of the laptop if the os boots from the ssd.
For your interest we have exactly the same ssd the kingspan NT model with the only difference that mine is the 256 gb model.
The only annoying and potentially non repairable issue I still have is that since I got the laptop I have been having problems with the wifi speeds dipping to zero and sometimes not working at all. I have removed, reinstalled and updated the driver but the problem still persists. I suspect it could be from a badly placed antenna at the back of the case since this is mentioned on another topic here in the forum. I can see the antenna cable being bent to be hidden at the back of the case. I have also posted this on another topic.
Eventually I may have to send the laptop back to be repaired under warranty which is only 6 months. I have also found that the black plasti cover inside the case if being bent up on my model and also the copper ribbon is held by a duct tape which has already started to peel off. I am including the pic which shows the poor workmanship.
Thanks so much for your help once more and let me know if I can be of any help too.

Hi joana, it is normal to experience some speed lost while using bluetooth and wifi at the same time and in close proximity.
However if it does makes the wifi unusable there are a few things you can try.
- update the intel 3165 drivers
- use only 5ghz for your wifi
- change the channel on your 2.4ghz router if you have no access to 5ghz network
- if your mouse uses a dongle you could try switching the usb port
- switching to the lowest dpi your mouse supports
You could try with another bluetooth mouse to see if the problem persist but unfortunately if none of these works you will have to ditch the bluetooth mouse(or the jumper).
September 8, 2017 at 12:39 pm #71799Thanks Chris I’ll try another Manjaro release. In the evening I did manage to boot a custom Xubuntu 17.04 I created using the awsome isorespin.sh tool. So linux definitively boots on the jumper 3 pro V4. Sound and wifi were working. Firefox seemed a bit laggy. I did not try to install Ubuntu as I have no SSD yet. If someone really needs the xubuntu image I can share it. I think Linux Arch or Manjaro is definetively doable. isorespin.sh uses rEFInd to boot ubuntu or windows. That’s probably something to look into. I’ve also noticed that the BIOS gets bugguy if you select “Intel Linux” as your booting OS : the screen has no backlight and the main keyboard is not recognized by the bios. I had to plug a USB cable and turn of the lights to switch back to “Windows”. So except if a bios update is released, stay on the “windows” OS selection setting and use rEFInd.
If you could share that it would be fantastic. If you need a server to upload it to I can make you an owncloud account on my VPS

Hello guys i don’t own a ezbook 2, instead what i have is the Chuwi LapBook 15 which is pretty similar to the ezbook, i tried a bunch of version o ubuntu and linux mint, some of them i got bluetooh working and wifi but they freeze after some time, or no freeze but got nothing working good enough, i tried respinning the ISOs but got no good result. So i tried the new ubuntu, the one who ditched unity in favor of gnome(17.10 Artful which still in beta by the way), no respin or anything just a clean iso from the ubuntus website, and almost everything works fine.
- Wifi works out of the box, sometimes i get really low speeds or disconnects for no apparent reason but overrall is ok
- Touchpad is pretty good all the commands seem to work, 2 fingers scroll, zoom in and out, 3 fingers tab change, but it sometimes gets confused and zoom in instead of scrolling down
- Baterry indicator works good, without charging it has no problem, but when i plug the cable it says its fully charged
- Bluetooh does not work, but i did not try to fix since is not a big deal for me
- No sound, which is the one that bothers me the most :(, Also i play a youtube or netflix video it looks like its 1.5 or 2x the actual speed for some reason
I am going to try to plug a bluetooh usb adapter and some bluetooh headphone and see if i can get sound, i will post back if i get any success. One last thing, this is my sudo inxi -xxAv6AA to compare with you guys System
That’s great news! So Ubuntu is finally updating to officially support our devices. Maybe sound will work with the stable release.
As for bluetooth, you could try to start the driver manually with
sudo systemctl start rtl8723bsbt.service
or
sudo systemctl start brcmbt.service
I don’t know if your laptop has the same bluetooth hardware but maybe it will work 🙂September 8, 2017 at 11:50 am #71790Thanks Chris I’ll try another Manjaro release.

TN panel, no thanks, will stay clear of this one. Thanks for the info.
- TN Panel
- wrong refresh rate
- bad wifi
- screen hinge issues
was going to get the lapbook air. But now it’s only going to have a N3450 in it and not the Core M3. Sucks!!
If money is impt to you, why not get the 6y30 Xiaomi Air 12? I gave my sis the Air (because she’s tiny and a 14″ laptop is too big for her) while I’m using the EZBook now and all she does is photoshop, chrome, and SWTOR. No appreciable difference.
So it’s really not an IPS panel?! Oh man, that is such a disappointment… Now I’m really considering a Xiaomi Air 13 instead. Probably have to send the Ezbook 3 Plus back and no other Core M3 in sight…
I guess I’ll go for the Mi notebook Air, but I wanted more than 4GB of RAM. Which is why the 8GB EZBook Plus looked so good (on paper) I know there is that 7Y54 version Chris reviewed, but it’s crazy expensive! For $800 bucks I might as well get an Acer or ASUS Zenbook. And I don’t want the 13″ Mi notebook it runs too hot!
You could get a super fast USB and use that as a Ramdisk 😀
i have not used it long enough to notice the wifi problem, thou i do notice that the signal strength is quite bad, usually its only 1-2 bar while all my other AC device is 3-4 bars.
Okay so it’s not good. I’m not sure to get this or the Thinker i35. Can you move to other rooms and see if you can still get decent speeds?
should have clarified that im testing it from around 10m away with one concrete wall in between, transmit power and roaming aggressiveness both at level 4. Still can stream 4k youtube thou so did not mention it in my initial impression. only watched 30 minutes of video thou so cant really tell if the wifi is really dropping out as the buffering may mask that.
Have you tried 4K 60fps?
