Gearbest was fast to deliver to Italy this piece of technology.
Begause there were various hangs reverting Windows 10 to a fresh install, I completely reinstalled Windows 10 Pro via USB card; cvwere downloaded from Techtablets.com , that was really helpful.
I also performed The Windows Creators update and it went smooth and well. Now I’m writing this review using it.
Trying to understand how to boot from USB, I faced the BIOS built-in UEFI console, that I have to say it is unknown to me, but it is good to know it exists!
I needed work on a software project of my own while traveling, but I also wanted a cheap and very portable solution and this Tablet + keyboard came on sale on Gearbest at the right time.
Developing software on a 11.5″ screen at fullHD resolution is really a pain, but the Windows “scaling” feature in Screen Options was the choiche-of-the-day and raised the problem to 0%!
I installed IDE and went all out working on my project. After a few days I have to say it is works good, I had fear of the slowness, but I was relieved at last: compiling sources takes 2-3 seconds more than my main machine (AMD FX-9590), debugging processes are smooth even with a lot of windows opened; I guess 6GB RAM are helping a lot.
I Always used to test the RAM speed running CrystalDiskMark on RamDisk (powered by AMD free software): I used 16 queues on 16 threds to have as highher CPU stress as possible (you can look at image I put on attachment), and performances didn’t was right to me: I run HWInfo and was pretty disappointed looking at Ram speed 800Mhz at 1T timing: looking at N3450 spec on Intel website you can see supported memort “DDR3L/LPDDR3 up to 1866 MT/s; LPDDR4 up to 2400 MT/s”: I mean, 1T? c’mon.
I’m also disappointed for the slow WiFi bandwidth: I know it is Wifi-n, it whould be good to have ac, but 42MB/s wireless speed is really cheap: to manage file transfers I had to use a USB WiFi device (I have to say, 6€ on Amazon).
I didn’t put any memory card atm, I feel confortable with 64GB eMMC: even with all my own software installed, I still have 24GB free.
At home I use the micro-HDMI slot to connect a 27″ 2560×1440 display and I’m highly satisfied to see it works even at 120Hz refresh rate. The silentness compared to my home PC is really a big point of success, so big that, when not gaming, I prefere using X3 Plus instead of my high-end desktop PC.
About gaming, I tried to play MxM at 1280 x 720, graphic settings all low, 30-35 FPS. This game is LoL-like, full of slow background 3D movements, it was playable, but not really really good. I fear FPS games are not suitable for this device. Nevertheless, I see nothing to point the finger to, we all know Intel graphics adapter are not good for gaming.
Internet browsing is good, I have to say it depends by browser: heavy website like Netflix are not so smooth, I report Chrome the one who handle it better.
Final words: at 245,00€ , tablet and keyboard included, it was a good deal. I think money and value are on pair. At higher prices, this piece of technology is not worth to me.
Thanks for reading
