Teclast X98 Plus 3G Coming This Month

Teclast X98 Plus 3G Coming This Month

According to GearBest.com’s X98 Plus 3G listing, the 3G version of the dual boot X98 Plus will be available from the 19th. We haven’t seen a modem version of Teclast’s Retina tablets since the X98 Air 3G. The X98 Pro was rumored to get 4G. But it seems this won’t be happening and as we are getting is the X98 Plus with a 3G modem (No 4G)

The supported bands: 2G 850/900/1800/1900MHz WCDMA 900/2100MHz

3G must be down to costs as 4G modems are certainly a little more expensive still.

It’s listed as a preorder for $238 which is a little pricey.

  1. Keep in mind 3g is only Chinese frequency and most likely you won’t be able to use 3g in your home country. For instance 2100 is supported in Canada by one carrier but that’s only for downstream data while the 1700 is required for upstreM which the tablet doesn’t have. And using 2g o(twice speed of dialup) in a tablet in today’s time where all websites have massive amount of scripting and graphics – forget it. May work for quick email but that’s it. Make sure you check frequencies and bands.

  2. I have received the X98 Plus 3G dual OS (windows 10 & Android 5.1) 4GB RAM and 46GB ROM. I am greatly disappointed with the Android platform. No matter how I tried, I cannot access the SD card although it claims that it can access TF card up to 128 GB. I am not sure if it is the firmware or the android 5.1 that is the problem.

I have a 128GB Patroit brand micro SD card in the slot and Windows 10 OS has no problem seeing and writing and reading from the SD card. Gearbest and other sites advertised it as a tablet phone or phablet and at time just a tablet but there is no phone radio. It can only connect via GSM for internet surfing only, but totally no phone call function unless I use skype wifi calling feature.

  3. Hi! Will it support phone calls?

  4. Do you think is faster to use this 3G modem or a BT internet connection with mi 4G mobile (Xiaomi Mi4)??

  5. Now also available at Aliexpress. 204$ is the best price I saw. quite good actually.

    • Interesting! I have been using X98 Air 3G for a year or so and I think I am gonna give this a try, even just for the battery, which is crappy on the Air.

Is the single OS version (need win 10 only) going to be available? Or am I supposed to buy the dual OS and wipe off the Android partition?

      Thanks for the hints!
