Edit: After using the Mi Pad 3 for 1 solid day, I can say wait for a stable ROM. It’s crashing loading games, full lockups, glitches. UI lag. The hardware is great, but the software is very poor. It’s clearly a beta ROM, if Android 7.0 isn’t stable under MIUI 8.2.8 then just why not give your customers a stable Android 6.0 ROM! I’ve got my hands on the new Mi Pad 3, the sli...[Read More]
After a spate of fakes and rumours stating it would ship with a Core M3-7Y30, the Mi Pad 3 was officially announced today by Xiaomi. The 7.9″ tablet is just an internal component change around really as the screen and housing remains the same. The Atom Z8500 has been replaced by a MediaTek MT8176 Six Core CPU with a max turbo of 2.1Ghz. The GPU is an Imagination PowerVR GX6250, the same GPU ...[Read More]
The 3rd Xiaomi Mi 5 model is the Mi 5C, slim & light with a full unibody with glass accents on the rear, it has the same 1080p 5.15-inch screen as the Mi 5. But this ones different, it’s powered by Xiaomi’s own in-house chipset the pinecone Surge S1, the first to be released. It’s a mid-range SoC with 8 cores (Cortex A53) 4 run at 2.2Ghz, the other cluster at 1.4Ghz built on ...[Read More]
Last year I reviewed the Redmi Note 4, that one had a MediaTek deca-core Helio X20 chipset in it. Not a bad mobile for the price I thought. India recently got a Snapdragon 625 Note 4 version and just this month Xiaomi released the Redmi Note 4X, with the same spec, just a slightly revised rear alloy housing and Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset. My spec has 3GB of RAM and a 32GB eMMC for storage, th...[Read More]
Update: Well it’s over. A huge disappointment. A new router, 4k TV and the Mi Mix in white. That’s it, nothing exciting. Here’s Xiaomi’s live stream from CES 2017 in Las Vegas, where they are rumored to announce a new Mi 5C and possible a new Mi Pad (I’m crossing my fingers for that one). My guess is MIUI 9.0 based on Android 7.0, a new mobile and a new 2-in-1 laptop....[Read More]
Update: Thanks to JunCheng, we have some photos of where the antenna is placed at least and there is talk that it’s an eSIM. No sim slot. So this model is only relevant in China. No point selling this outside of China if it cannot read SIM’s or working with other networks other than China Mobile who partnered up with Xiaomi to offer 4GB of data a month with these Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air...[Read More]
For around 4 months I’ve been using the Mi Notebook Air 12.5″ version as my travel and secondary PC hooked up via my PC monitor. So after 4 months are there any serious issues? Build quality still good and holding up? Below is the re-review, it comes just in time as Xiaomi are due to announce a new Xiaomi Mi Notebook version tomorrow. Some claim it’s a Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro with...[Read More]
Edit: This was a clever fake as expected. The real Mi Pad 3 is here: https://techtablets.com/2017/04/xiaomi-mi-pad-3-official/ Just like the post on the Mi Pad 2E, I’m not sure if this info is real or not. I hope it is. Apparently, according to a leak has Xiaomi is going to release a 9.7″ Mi Pad 3 powered by a Core M3-7Y30 with 8GB of RAM either tomorrow or on the 30th of December. The...[Read More]
Take this one with a grain of salt. Seems Xiaomi could be releasing a Dual OS upgraded version of the Mi Pad 2. Labeled as the Mi Pad 2E, it comes with a new 16MP rear camera and 8MP front camera. Storage options now start at 64GB with a 128GB version, considering it will be running MIUI 8 and Windows 10 home this makes sense and since there is no microSD support we really need all the storage we ...[Read More]
The Mi Mix from Xiaomi, isn’t the first bezel-less phone. Sharp did it back in 2014 with the Aquos. However, it’s finally back again the bezel-less design. And Xiaomi’s concept mobile is a stunner. A super bright (740 lux) 6.4″ 1080 x 2040 screen, now 6.4 inches, but around the same height has a Galaxy S6 Edge+, Note 5//7, just about 10mm wider. The design has some a comple...[Read More]
