I’ve just finished my Mi Pad 2 review video, I have to say I’m impressed with this tablet. Xiaomi’s quality is unmatched for this price range. I’ve already seen this with their mobile phones I have reviewed. The Mi Pad 2 is no exception, the build with its metal unibody, fully laminated display matches even Apple’s iPad Mini offerings. Here’s the review.
It’s a long one so skip to the part that interests you if you don’t want to sit through it all!

Well, it’s not a perfect tablet (No tablet is) It’s missing a MicroSD card slot and HDMI out. In theory, I should have HDMI out via the Type-C port, but my two adapters don’t seem to work. Apart from this, it’s a damn good 7.9″ tablet. I wish I reviewed the first model, but never got around to it.
I’ll do my best to get hold of the Windows 10 version and one of the first things I’ll do is check to see if video out works. And if there is any throttling, in Android I saw temperatures reach 65 max when gaming, which makes me think Windows will be another story altogether, since they always run the chips hotter for some reason.

Chris, do you have any plans to review the Windows version?
If not, would it be possible to install Windows on your current device? There should be just enough space there to run some benchmarks–and find out how hot the tablet gets in Windows.

@Chris, can you check, if your device is equipped with a GPS sensor, as there are contradicting infos around. Thank you!

Can you check OTG funtionality on Xiaomi mipad 2, please? Does it work well with different flash drives?

Why is there no Xiaomi subforum in the forums?
Chris G
Adding it now.

With 4GB RAM and Dual-Boot this would be such an easy buy…

How is this able to get good battery life compared to the x98 pro?
Chris G
I guess its down to how the rom is optimized and how the CPU governor is. The X98 Pro is faster as it may turbo for much longer than this Mi pad 2.
riddle
hey chris is it usb 3.1 type c? i really need usb 3 speeds
Amit Arusi
@Chris can you do side to side comparison between the X98 pro vs mi pad 2 ?
Jamie Brahm
I’d guess that windows games are just more demanding. Stuff designed for phones/tablets, tends to have to be aimed at what is out there – whereas playing old windows games on a windows tablet – it’s hit and miss if it plays at playable rates etc.

In comparison to Teclast X98 Pro or X16 Pro with this Mi Pad 2, which would you recommend for daily media and gaming.
Pablo_2015
In android mi pad 2, in windows teclast x16 pro.
Amit Arusi
can you explain why ? they have the same intel processor and the teclast ram is 4GB while the mi pad 2 is only 2GB

Does the windows version have a sd card? If not its really gimped…
Alexander Voinov
It would be great as a thin client even without an sd card. RDP under Windows 10 is transparent to all of touch access. The only remaining problem is the DPI scaling.
Hualalai
The Win10 version won’t have an SD port… Xiaomi no longer put SD interfaces on Xiaomi devices.

And I will no longer purchase Xiaomi products as a result.
