I found this on GearBest the other day, The Voyo A1 Ultimate, it’s an 11.6″ notebook with a hinge that doubles back 360 degrees similar to the Lenovo Yoga series. It looks identical to the Onda oBook 11 I posted about earlier, both being Yoga clones. However, this one has a larger 64GB eMMC/4GB of Ram Vs the 32GB eMMC and 2GB of Ram on the Onda.
It would seem the two companies use the same ODM, later rebrand and sell this base model Atom X5 Netbook. The specs and look of the Notebook/Tablet look okay for the price and more attractive than the Onda oBook with double the ram and storage.
- 11.6″ 1080p touch screen
- 4GB of LPDDR3 Ram
- Atom X5 Z8300 with up to 1.84 Ghz turbo boost
- Windows 10
- Micro HDMI out
- Two USB 2.0 ports
- MicroSD card slot supporting up to 128GB cards.
- 10,000mAH battery
- 2MP front and rear cameras
- Wireless B/G/N with BT 4.0
- 16mm thick. 1.2 kilos
It’s listed as a preorder for $283 for those looking for something cheap that’s more like a laptop and the screen can be flipped back to become a rather bulky heavy tablet. It’s available in silver or Lenovo orange.

Hello,
Does anybody know what type of DC connector is used for A1 power supply ? The charger that came with the tablet is crap, I want to buy a new one.
Thanks in advance.

@Chris, sorry or hijacking this thread. Feel free to delete whatever messages you want or move then to the forums/general. It’s just I’m shopping for a device similar to this and weighing the Chinese models you focus on versus the more main-stream stuff and models featuring the Pentium N3700. Here is a video below looking inside this Acer R11. For those interested in Linux, I saw that a least the Intel Wifi card (intel 3165) is supported in Ubuntu 15.10 kernel 4.2+.

Not a problem, I may get one of these to review if I can get one at a good price (11.11 sale) or if Voyo send me one to review.

Hi Bradley,
Thanks for the link. Being on Amazon for $254, I might order one. Being a Prime Member, I will get two days free shipping to NY. Then have to use Aramex to my country. I have too many SSDs collecting dust.
I just purchased Voyo VBook V3 and it doesn’t have a dual band WiFi, the 5GHz Band. However, it has a beautiful display. I was thinking buying the Voyo AI Plus Ultimate.
The only drawback I see with the Acer with the display being 1366 x 768. However, the Voyo gets very hot while charging.
Any suggestions?
Best regards!

As I mentioned below, the big difference with the Acer and some others, at least for me, is that with machines using the Pentium N3700 and Celeron 3150, you are unlikely to have a problem installing flavors of Linux – in a dual boot config or booting off of a USB drive. That is currently not the case with Atom machines – most of them don’t work completely, if at all, with Linux, but that might change with the upcoming 16.04 version, but I would not count on it. This is important to me because when running a lean/fast version such as Lubuntu 15.10 it will feel like you are running on a completely different machine – a much faster CPU (like a Core i5 or i7) compared to the speed you feel when running Windows 10. I find even web pages load noticeably faster under, eg., LinuxMint 17.2 than Win10. My current AMD A6 notebook runs both of these in dual-boot config and the speed difference doing some things is not small. Those P-N3700 and C-3150 CPU’s should run as fast or faster than my AMD-A6 while being much better on battery life.
As you said, looks like the Voyo display quality is different, so you just have to decide which is more important to you. Performance is more important to me at this time.
BBaker
well maybe not a core i7 but perhaps closer to an i5
BBaker
Yeah, I just saw that Acer on Amazone for $254. I thought you were talking about the Voyo.
I guess another potential drawback is the 3.3 lbs weight versus Voyo’s 2.65lbs, but that’s not too bad considering you have a 500GB hard drive in there.
Chris G
Oh this would be much better than this. Acer has support, better quality etc etc. All for it!
BBaker
Reg taxes, yeah. Brazil too. Absurd import taxes, even worse than Spain. Perhaps the worst in the world?
Pablo_2015
Nop, in my Argentina, you must pay a plus of 35% more 50% (official dolar + 85%) in the 99% of cases,
jaja, always can be a worse.

Just found a fairly detailed review of the N3700 based Acer Aspire R 11. They claim it is (or will?) be priced at from US$250 to $400. The latter for 8GB RAM and presumably the $250 model, I’m guessing, with a Celeron CPU – perhaps the newer Braswell Celeron N3150 instead of the Pentium N3700?
http://www.ultrabookreview.com/7517-acer-aspire-r11-review/
BBaker
Yeah, a quick search shows US$280 versions of the Aspire R11 with a Celeron N3050 , 2GB RAM, 32GB flash, no AC wifi, and Windows 8.1 instead of Win10. Not good IMO. I think this is an older model though because the N3050 is dual-core while the newer Braswell Celeron N3150 is quad-core (very similar to the Pentium N3700).
The Braswell based models look like a pretty good deal to me if they can be had for around US$300 or less.
BBaker
I’m just hoping that Linux runs OK on these new Braswell based systems. At present the vast majority of the Atom based systems do not. That *might* change come April 2016 when Ubuntu 16 comes out, but who knows.
I just want to replace my heavy 15″ notebook with a lighter 2-in-1/convertible with better battery life, touch-screen, AC wifi, and runs Linux well without losing any performance compared to my old-ish AMD A6 Lenovo.
BBaker
On second thought, given it’s 1.2kg weight and battery, it might be a better option for some people. We gotta see some reviews of these devices to know the real world differences.
BBaker
I think it’s a tough sell at that price. For a little more, around US$330 you could get a more powerful processor – the quad-core Braswell Pentium N3700 in a similarly spec’ed Acer Aspire R 11 R3-131T. I think I spotted an N3700 based convertible HP for around $300 too. They might be a little heavier but then you have better upgrade options – can upgrade to 8GB RAM and a 2.5″ SSD.
And these larger companies (usually) have better support and QA, and resale value. The Chinese “no name” brands need to give better deals I think.

The N3700 is a 6watt TDP processor, so battery usage should be decent.
Chris G
I’ll rather get that I with a more known brand name like Acer or HP. I guess Voyo will have to drop the price. I’m sure it was listed before at $269.
BBaker
Chris, Here is the HP deal,$299 from the Microsoft Store no less. Seems like a pretty good deal. Again, will be interesting to read reviews on it. Personally, I’d rather have a small SSD than the 500gb HD. But like I said you could upgrade it later. The faster 802.11ac wifi and B&O audio are a couple of perks.

Supposedly (the reports say) that the Pentium N3700 has good graphics design – tests will have to show how well it performs real world.
It’s educational to see where this CPU ranks given it’s low 6 watt TDP…

Looks much better option for US buyers, In Europe that model would cost me around $400, lot more taxes here.

I agree it is a nice machine but it is out of stock at the Microsoft Store. Other sites are selling at $400+

It’s interesting to look at the similarities in Intel’s processors:
Braswell vs. Cherry-Trail stats:
Pentium N3700 CPU: turbo 2.4GHz, GPU:16-EU cores at 400mhz/700mhz(burst), ~6watts
Atom X7 Z8700 CPU: turbo 2.4GHz, GPU:16-EU cores at 200mhz/600mhz(burst), ~2watts
Atom X5 Z8500 CPU: turbo 2.2GHz, GPU:12-EU cores at 200mhz/600mhz(burst), ~2watts
Celeron N3150 CPU: turbo 2.0GHz, GPU:12-EU cores at 320mhz/640mhz(burst), ~6watts
