Xiaomi Weekly Digest – New Products, Rumors & Updates!

Hello and welcome to our first Xiaomi weekly digest! As the name suggests, we’ll be going through the most interesting news bits coming from the Chinese tech giant that have occurred in the past 7 days. If you happen to like this type of content, we might then extend it to other brands, product categories and whatnot!

New Products

As we all well know, Xiaomi are renown for having an insane amount of items in their portfolio, so it’s not too surprising to see them launch a microwave – yes, you read that right! The Xiaomi Yunmi is a microwave with a 3D all-around heating, which combines the functions of a traditional steamer and an oven with a power output of 2100W. The machine can achieve a temperature of 115°C in steaming mode, meanwhile roast mode will get you up to  230°C. Xiaomi’s microwave isn’t one of their most affordable gadgets though, at around 1499 Yuan ($220).

After you enjoy eating what you cooked with the microwave above, you should probably go for a quick run, but how do you keep track of your progress? With the latest Xiaomi Hey+ smart band, of course! The wearable features a 0.95-inch AMOLED display with a 240x240p resolution, it weighs 19.7g and it’s made from a thermoplastic elastomer. It then comes with a 120mAh battery, an NFC module and supports Bluetooth 4.2LE. The Hey+ will sell for 299 Yuan ($43).

Along with the smart band you might want to get a sweet pair of super affordable wireless earphones, such as Xiaomi Sports Bluetooth Headset Youth Edition. These $15 earphones come with 10mm strong magnetic moving coil unit, they are IPX4 rated, which means protection from sweating and light water splashes. On a full charge they can run for 11 at medium volume, meanwhile autonomy drops to 6 hours at maximum volume.

This is more of a physical upgrade than an update but the beautiful Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S is now coming in an Emerald Green ceramic variant, we still aren’t sure about its pricing, but we definitely love how it looks!

Finally, staying in the Mi MIX 2S topic, the smartphone is now receiving Android 9.0 Pie beta, which is quite exciting for those who own the phone and are willing to trying the Google’s latest OS.

  1. Nice new section, Chris! BTW have you heard any rumours of a Xiaomi laptop with Windows on Snapdragon? I’d love to see one of those to replace my Mi Air 12.5″!

  2. Starting from yesterday-today Xiaomi also has new Mi Pad 4 Plus, a 10-inch tablet. Adding bigger screen size to Mi Pad family for a good price is excellent!!!
By the way this idea of weekly updates from Xiaomi is excellent. Hopefully it will also include what newer Android updates will bring to smartphone and tablet lines. It will be great to know that new updates solved some of the issues that people see in everyday use of the devices, as well as in your reviews.
I hope you will expand this weekly updates for other brands as well.

  3. And while you are jogging around the block you can be wearing Xiaomi runners: https://www.gearbest.com/athletic-shoes/pp_009473180697.html?wid=1433363 🙂

    • Be aware to know your size for that brand cause my experience with xiaomi shoe sizes compared to adidas, puma, nike sizes are simple: add 1 size to avoid torture for your feet

If you are insecure about that thing first buy the cheapest xiaomi modell of your size and order it like I did for 20€.
If something goes wrong you know what it needs to get the next pair fitting to your shoes and you might be able to sell that 20€ first buy without any great loss to a person that this pair will fit to.

Shoes were the most disappointing xiaomi product so far … cause as an electronic pioneer they may have not really learned of what they have to take care for to create that quality we are used to get from Xiaomi. Still a long way to go for them.
