Huawei MediaPad M5 Youth Edition & Enjoy are Official, Powered by Kirin 659 CPUs

Huawei MediaPad M5 Youth Edition

Huawei just launched two new entry-level tablets both powered by the company’s home-baked Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset and 10.1-inch (1920 x 1200) displays. They are the Huawei MediaPad M5 Youth Edition and the Huawei Enjoy Tablet.

Huawei’s Kirin 659 chipset, a similar SoC to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625, packs 4 cores clocked at 2.36 GHz and 4 cores clocked at 1.7 GHz, thus should bring slightly better performance. The CPUs are then coupled with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage (expandable) for both tablets.

Aside from the specs above, the tablets are different in pretty much everything else. The MediaPad M5 Youth Edition is the more premium of the two as it comes with a bigger battery of 7500mAh, it packs four large high-quality Harman/Kardon stereo speakers to bring a more immersive movie watching experience and it has a 4-microphone array so that you can activate Huawei’s AI assistant even in rooms with lots of noise.

Finally, the tablet has an autonomy of up to 13 hours when watching videos or 55 hours of listening to music with the battery fast charging at 9V2A (18W) through the USB Type-C.
