Xiaomi’s new budging laptop is coming on the 11th in China. The RedmiBook 14 features a 14″ IPS but I cannot see anywhere if it’s a glossy finish or a matte one. Hopefully the latter (User comment confirms it’s a matte screen, yay!). The build is all alloy with a weight of 1.5 kilos and 18mm thick. It has the refreshed Whiskey lake Core i5 8265U and i7 8765U which is about 10% faster than the older Kaby Lake R and the newer Nvidia MX250 dedicated GPU. This GPU is basically an MX150 (Pascal) just overclocked and the same 2GB of DDR5 dedicated RAM. It’s fast enough to game with on low and medium settings for most titles.
Since it’s under the Redmi brand we should also see it released in Europe and India at some point but it starts shipping in China on the 11th this month. The Entry level model sells for $580 USD approximately (In China) but only has 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, the 8GB LPDDR4 of RAM version with 256GB SSD will cost around $780 from resellers.
All versions have Wireless AC 2 x 2 antennas, a Spare M.2 slot for adding a second drive and a USB 2.0 port and 2 x USB 3.0, 3.5mm and HDMI 1.4A output only. No HDMI 2.0A, no type-c and no fingerprint reader. The webcam is a 1MP and it charges via DC with a 65Wh battery and fast charging support. It has 2 x 15W DTS Speakers.
It looks good, but sad to see no type-C and no HDMI 2.0 something they didn’t add to keep the price down and not effect Mi Notebook Pro sales? It’s listed on Geekbuying starting from $739 and ships on the 17th.
And yes I’ll do my best to review this one!

Hello. I just bought a redmibook 14 pro and despite considering it a good product, the fan noise is driving me mad. I tried undervolting but it seems to be disabled from the bios or something like that. I would like to know if you know any sort of fix to the undervolting issue, or just any fix to improve general thermals and fan noise.
Also i found in reddit a fix for this undervolting issue only it is just for the mi notebook, and i would like to know if it might be compatible due to the similarities between both laptops.
Thanks in advance for your answer

The price has down so much, now the 8GB 512SSD only cost USD650.00 BUT this notebook without camera and no USB type C charger.

Wait no webcam? I thought it has a 1MP one?

This is not an interesting combination of specs and price, at all.
Easy pass.

Chris G
I hope so too, shame there is no fingerprint reader or Type-C and HDMI 2.0!

No USB-C charging? Thanks, but no thanks.
Chris G
Yeah, cost-cutting is my guess but stupid it doesn’t have it.
Chris G
True if you can get the same spec but locally with warrenty, it’s a no brainer.

Not worth it in Europe since you can get similarly specced laptops at roughly the same price (after import) but with proper warranty and service.

The Redmibook 14 comes with matte-display Chris. And seen reports of 250-300 luminance.

Thanks, couldn’t see it anywhere that info.
