Xiaomi Mi Mix Review

The Mi Mix from Xiaomi, isn’t the first bezel-less phone. Sharp did it back in 2014 with the Aquos. However, it’s finally back again the bezel-less design. And Xiaomi’s concept mobile is a stunner. A super bright (740 lux) 6.4″ 1080 x 2040 screen, now 6.4 inches, but around the same height has a Galaxy S6 Edge+, Note 5//7, just about 10mm wider.

The design has some a completely ceramic build, the whole body, buttons, and even the fingerprint reader, ultrasonic proximity sensor, and internal earpiece due to the screen being where you would normally find them. I truly believe that this is the future of mobiles, more screen, less bezel feels like a step forward. However, the Mix isn’t perfect. The earpiece in calls sounds muffled and flat due to it being inside the mobile transmitting the audio via the screen and frame. And the camera, while it can in good light take an okay picture, it falls flat compared to other flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S7 or iPhone 7.

The 16MP f2.0 rear camera lacks OIS or even DIS, video is shaky as a result and the auto focus on the camera can’t seem to ever get a proper lock in video. A big let down compared to the rest of the phone which really feels super premium and great, if extremely slippery. Luckily there is a nice leather case in the box that Xiaomi includes and it fits the mobile perfectly with cut outs for everything as you would expect. Below is my detailed video review. If you must have the latest look this is it. But if you demand the best camera performance, you’ll only find disappointment with the Mi Mix.
