Official Chuwi Vi10 Keyboard hands on

I received my Chuwi Vi10 keyboard in record time from China, only 10 days via PostNL. Not bad at all, I was trying to get hold of one when I brought the Vi10, but at the time no seller had this in stock.

The keyboard is around $30 and if you buy it with the Chuwi Vi10 normally you can get it much cheaper than this as a bundle, around $15-$20. If you can do this I recommend getting it the same time you buy the Vi10. It’s not the same as the Onda V102w, Pipo W3 etc keyboard. But ia different build made just for the 10.6″ Vi10. The quality of the keyboard and the fabric used is better than the PiPo W3/W3F keyboards which seems to show less dust and dirt.

Key travel is very good and decent feedback, I love my Surface 3 keyboard, but dear I say it this $30 keyboard I can type quicker and with less errors than my $149 Type cover. Sure the quality isn’t the same as the Microsoft one, it’s a little thicker, but I think most people would be happy with the typing experience.

The case folds up into a stand for the tablet and it sits at an 80 degree angle which is not the greatest, but the tablet has no kick stand. Shift keys do work in Android unlike Teclast and Pipo models.

Overall, it’s one of best keyboard case I have seen for a Chinese tablet so far and the quality isn’t bad at all.

I got the keyboard from Honestly Team here: http://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/AIMvFeE6

  1. I have recieved the chuwi vi10 keyboard today,it seems to be broken.
It doesn’t connect to the tablet and the right click of the touchpad can not properly be pressed .
    Any help?
I have already contact with gearbest ( seller),lets see what they say..

  2. Mmm… I think if this keyboard can be a cheap alternative to Cube i7 Stylus official keyboard. This can be a really interesting thing.

    • Nevermind… I just realized that Cube i7 Stylus keyboard anchor pins are on different possitions and this tablet isn´t compatible with the typical keyboard covers.

      • Tried unfortunately while the docking pogo pings are 5 pins and the same width, the anchor tabs are spaced out wider.

  3. Hi all, can you check your Vi10 keyboard? is it supposed to be a bit curved in the magnetic dock? i mean the long plastic part where your tablet sit when docked. Mine is a bit curved, not straight. Is it normal?

    • You mean it curving up in the middle a little. I think that’s part of the design.

  4. Hello 🙂

I ordered one too. Have a couple of questions please.

Can you uninstall Anrdoid and only boot with windows to gain on board storage
space? Windows suits me fine and have no use for Android.

How many gb tf card can this tablet support? I’ve seen ads stating from 32 to 128.

How do you do a fresh install of windows and restore android to factory if needed.

    Thank you…!!!

    • Sounds like a hardware fault to me with the keyboard, first try a new keyboard if not it could be the tablet port (unlikely)

      • Dear Chris

        Thanks for your reply,

Initially the keyboard was working well with the tablet, then I tried to install AutoCAD 2013 on the windows partition and at about 90% installation progress the tablet locked the screen and from that time the keyboard stopped working.

The AutoCAD program didnt run well on the PC,I un-installed it and still the keyboard has not worked again,I did a factory restore still no solution. When I tried adjust the keyboard in the dock the system says USB device not recognized

I swapped keyboards with another X10 HD 3G and my teclast still does not communicate with the keyboard but my keyboard works on the other teclast

i compared the drivers on device manager for both teclast and I discover that the keyboard device has 3 components. 2 alone are showing on mine,USB has 6 components but 4 alone are showing on mine.I tried to re-install drivers and the system says my drivers are ok

I am really confused,I dont know what to do

  7. I also have such keyboard cover, there is a problem with it. When I put the tablet down on the keyboard it goes to sleep, as expected. But when I close the cover by covering the back of the tablet with the part of the case that converts into a stand and putting the magnetic lock part in its place, the tablet wakes up. If I press the power button without opening the case, it still wakes up some time later. So I can put the tablet packed into the cover in my backpack only when it’s powered off, if it is in sleep mode, it constantly wakes up.
Could you test your case this way?

    • Hi, it doesn’t seem to wake up for me when I fold the case up. Do you sometimes experience issues powering the tablet on or coming out of sleep?

      • Sometimes it failed go turn on from sleep mode, but I looked into the events log and found out that VirtualBox Bridged Networking driver was the reason for this. It seems to be incompatible with the WiFi card. I disabled it and everything’s fine for now.

  8. Hi Chris,
I waiting your reviews for vi10’s keyboard. nice review, concise and clear.
I have some question. Is it magnetic when folded it? Is it quite tight? and could you weight it together.

    • Hi it’s magnetic when folded, clips back to support the tablet. as for the weight I will weigh them together and let you know. I’m just out of town for the weekend.

    • It locks fine by the magnets, don’t think it could open by accident. Weight of tablet in a case is 1040 gramms.

  9. When you say you got it in 10 days, where did you get it and how much did it cost?

    What’s PostNL? A courier?
