Teclast X16 Pro Review Online & Limited Sale Price

Teclast X16 Pro Review Online & Limited Sale Price

If you missed it, my Teclast X16 Pro review is now online. While not a bad tablet, it does have some flaws and throttling in Windows. As an Android tablet with a nice keyboard doc it’s not a bad machine, but if you’re after it more for Windows I would take a look at other tablet offers out there.

GearBest also hasĀ it on special for $263, but only 120 units will be offered at this price. I recommend you check the review before pulling the trigger on this one.

Next up for review is the Cube iwork11 Stylus which I’m just finishing up my full written review of it.

  1. Be careful at GearBest, I have bought a Tablet X16 Power that was used with profile windows already created, without the seal on the box and with the touchscreen which goes crazy if the power supply is on. (Simply change the AC/DC adaptator) The shipment took about a month and the keyboard, included as gift in my offer, was missing. For the tablet, is interesting to remark that the sensor of luminosity and the Gps is not present and the panel is not sharp.

    • I also got my from gearbest.
But i had a great experience.
My piece was in great shape.
I am thoroughly enjoying it.About games in window if u cancel battery saving during games then it plays all games nicely.

  2. Has anybody tested USB 3.0 speeds? Using Parkdale v2, I only get 33MB/sec Read and Write Speeds, using a ONY 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive. These are the same speeds I get when I connect it to the USB 2.0 Port. I bought mine from GearBest and am waiting for a response from them. I don’t know if it is a Faulty Port, Bad Drivers or False Advertising.

Can someone please test their USB 3.0 Port Speeds?

    Thanks

    • * PNY (not ONY) it is a HP x702 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive made by PNY

  3. The poor result in Ice Storm benchmark is not due to throttling. If you disable “Extended Battery Life for Gaming” in Intel HD Graphics Control Panel power settings you will get a much better score.

  4. I been checking thermals on my X16 pro and they are super bad. Merely letting windows update run sends it over 80c

Would be great if there was a how to on opening it up and fixing it.
I don’t know if this is something I can ask for compensation for as the tablet still works, just obviously could work better…

  5. Well I been using my Teclast X16 pro for 5 days now and I am satisfied with what I got. Got it from Gearbest, I noticed they originally said on gb that it had GPS but I saw elsewhere it didn’t, when I got it I was secretly hoping that my X16 pro from GB was some kind of special mystical production run with GPS but of course now. GB have since fixed up their description.
Looking on ebay for a GPS USB dongle can be had for $17 so if there are special times I need GPS I will just get that..

I ran Crystalmark and got a fair bit faster seq write speed then you. Crystalmark Screenshot -> https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwxrzOTOLzKvMjNobEpMeC00Mjg/view?usp=sharingļ»æ

I spent a good amount of time watching Netflix in bed with headphones in both Android and MS Windows. And I must say it works a lot better in Windows, mostly its the sound quality in Windows is x 3 times better (realistically). I think the sound drivers for Android are some kind of extreme basic fall back type audio drive because the sound is just rubbish compared to MS windows.

Also when you first get the tablet don’t do anything till get get the 1511 Windows 10 update. This is a massive update to windows 10 that I wasn’t expecting, it seems to internally treat it like a full OS update as it will rename your main C:\windows folder to c:\windows.old
And it needs all the hard drive space it can get in the 32gb partition size to complete the update.

Deleting the old windows.old is a must. The most common instructions using the built in ‘disk clean up’ util didn’t work for me as the ‘previous’ windows versions would never show up.. but it does if you delete it through the main windows control panel in ‘storage’. It seems most of the instructions for deleting windows.old in the latest windows 10 update are a bit dated/invalid, at least for me.

    Go to Start > Settings.
Select System > Storage > This PC and then scroll down the list and select Temporary files.
Select your C: drive if there are others.
Under Previous version of Windows, select Delete previous versions and then select Delete.

    • How did you get it to update? Mine has nothing installed at all and it says there is insufficient space. I’ve got 12.5GB free out of 33GB and the update needs 13GB! I’ve deleted everything I can find to free up as much space as possible but don’t know what else to do. Never seen an OS use 20GB of storage before.

      • I installed a 64GB microSD in the microSD slot and then mounted it as a normal drive in Windows (by default it doesn’t give it a letter) then when the Windows update complains there isn’t enough space I chose that drive to as extra space to help proceed with the upgrade.

So when windows complains there isn’t enough space look for an option in the bottom of that popup window that lets you select a alternative drive and have your extra drive ready before hand..

        • Thanks I will try that later, I was more concerned the lack of space was something the stupid seller had done (due to the above mentioned issues), can you enable windows bit defender on your tablet?

  6. Hi Chris, just a couple of questions regarding your X16. I received mine at the weekend and it’s been nothing but problems, mostly because of the seller. Windows was completely unresponsive and after spending around 6-7 hours with it I managed to install some antivirus only to find it had almost 300 spyware/adware/malware/viruses/Trojan horses! I’ve managed to get rid of everything after using 3 different antivirus programs but I can’t enable Windows Bit Defender. I keep getting a message telling me I don’t have group privileges or something. Also updating Windows I got a message saying my system was infected with viruses. Just wondered if you can use bit defender on your system?? Is it possible to do a fresh windows install as I don’t want to install anything with personal details incase there is a problem. Also when I signed into my Google account I received a message saying someone had logged on with a Mac book, did you have this problem? Not sure if it’s picking this tablet up as a Mac book possibly? Lastly the camera doesn’t focus, it just makes a strange clicking noise and pics are just a really dark, blurry mess. Gonna cost me a fortune to send it back (with keyboard and stylus) so need to decide what to do.

    Thanks

    • Sounds dodgey? Where you buy it from? Maybe its a used older version model like the X16HD? Maybe upload some screenshots etc of what your talking about?

      • Been trying to update windows but apparently there is not enough free space, I don’t even have anything installed! Not sure how Windows manages to use 21Gb of storage, very strange. Got it off a seller on Aliexpress, have sent them videos of all the problems and waiting to hear back from them.

  7. What would you recommend as an alternative for a Windows tablet in the same price range? Maybe the Cube i7?
