Teclast’s 11.6″ Atom X7 Z8700 Tablet Called X16 Power – X16 Pro On Preorder

Teclast’s 11.6″ Atom X7 Z8700 Tablet Called X16 Power – X16 Pro On Preorder

An update on Teclast’s Weibo today confirmed the beefed up Atom X7 Z8700 + 8GB LPDDR3 Ram model (Same Atom X7 CPU as the Surface 3) will be officially called the Teclast X16 Power. And it suits as it’s basically just a spec’ed up X16 Pro sharing the same screen and housing, as well as a keyboard dock that looks to be the same high-quality keyboard the 11.6″ X2 Pro Core M uses I reviewed recently.

The Teclast X16 Pro is now up for sale taking preorders on JD.com

Specs of both machines:

  • 11.6″ 1920 x 1080 16:9 IPS panel (AUO brand non laminated)
  • 11.6″ Keyboard dock with trackpad
  • Atom X5 Z8500 and 4GB of Ram (X16 Pro)
  • Atom X7 Z8700 and 8GB of Ram (X16 Power)
  • Wireless N 150mbps B/G/N
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • Micro HDMI
  • MicroSD slot
  • Supports active Teclast stylus (unknown stylus tech)
  • Mirco USB 2.0 port
  • USB 3.0 Port (Full size)
  • Windows 10 and Android 5.1? Dual OS

I see one seller on Aliexpress already has the X16 Pro listed, but at $299, ouch!

  1. Seems like it’s out.

wonder if the usb port, stylus and 4gb ram is worth the extra usd 180 over a x98 pro

  2. i want to believe that this model comes whith a good thermal pad.

  3. I really hope that teclast made this tablet with 3g/4g bands and gps. Or with possibility to add module to motherboard like in x2 pro.

  4. Hi Chris, today I make a link of X16 PRO. Price is $279.99 without keyboard nor stylus. The manager told me that the approximate released date is 11th Nov. I cannot promise it though.

  5. Gearbest is already selling x16 pro an x16 power. I don’t see that is preorder. Actual it says that will be shiped whitih 3-5 business days. I’m very tempted 🙂

    • Pro will be in several days, but power won’t be that soon as I was told.

  6. I’m going to purchase it on aliexpress (your link). Do you know other online shop that will have it? I see you point about the price … it’s not far from X2pro then !
    thanks

  7. Hey Chris,
Putting aside any reported and potential heat issues When comparing the X98 Pro to the X16 Pro what may be the pros and cons and which in your opinion may be the better tablet?

Is there exsisting software that can be downloaded to enable the active stylus functionality on any x98 Pro?

    • No, you can’t… The tablet needs to have the active stylus hardware system included from the beginning, it isn’t software related only and you can’t add it later.

  8. Chris, comparing specs from X2 Pro or X16 Power, which one will perform better overall. Which chip is better Atom X7 or Core M? Will 4GB of Ram more make a huge difference. What do you think is it worth to wait a little more or just go with X2.
    Thnx!

    • Core M is faster (think of Core M like a very low power consuming Core I3 CPU). 4GB vs 8GB of RAM means you can run more memory hungry applications or more at the same time. If you are just casually browsing 4GB will be more than enough.

Core M also supports SSD (the X2 Pro has SSD if i am not mistaken) which runs circles around the eMMC that is in most of these tablets.

      • Thnx for reply,
so to sum it up, except for the ram the X2 Pro is better. and one more thing- how come there is almost no Core M tablet that would be dual OS ( except for Onda ), does the chip not support it or is it hard to make it work or is there any particular reason.

        Thnx again!

        • Hi, Yes the Core M is much faster, almost twice as fast. I think there is no other Core M dual boot other than the Onda V919 3G due to stability reasons (The V919 Core M is super buggy) or the Insyde bios used. Teclast don’t use the Insyde brand of bios and maybe it’s only something they can do for now and Teclast are partnered up with another bios maker.

          • Thank You all for being patient with me and for your replies! I am finally decided. I will buy the X2 pro. Chris you are most helpfull, keep on the good work.

  9. specs are awesome if it doesnt overheat and has a decent battery life
