Chuwi have an updated Hi10 model in the works, a new more premium model. No word on the specs of this one yet, but I can see USB type-c port, new speakers left and right. And a new metal unibody housing with a 3G or 4G modem since it’s called “air” and you can see a sim slot in the photos. More info on this model once Chuwi officially announce it.
It’s due for release in April.
I hope it doesn’t have a Z8300 in it. But an X7 or X5 Z8550 please! I’ve seen too many Z8300’s now…

Whatever its drawbacks, the Air is so much better than the earlier iteration, which should never have been released in my view. Its ports were great, but otherwise it was ugly and has appalling speakers. Yes, this updated version seems much better, but I’ll be spending my cash on the Hi12 and dock/keyboard…when I can find them.

Chris im sorry for kinda going slightly off topic here but what are your though on the realibility of the original hi10? I am thinking of buying it but i hear many people are having problems with it, or is it maybe wiser to wait for this new version and see how it fares?
Thanks for your time
Kostas
I wait for a tablet with 800 band in 4g
ares9304 .
For gods sake, what is it with new tablets and minimal USB ports? Am i the only one who is retro enough to use full size usb?
tich69
I second that.
Chris G
I know, least we have the Hi10, Hi12 with full sized ports. With the keyboard dock the Chuwi Hi12 has 4 full sized ports.
Jay
+1
The keyboard dock does seem to have two USB ports though.
This one’s a looker!
Chris G
I just got the Cube i10 and it looks very similar to this! Seems Chuwi saw the i10 and thought we better up our game and improve the hi10’s build.
matteo
great the chuwi, hope it will get a decent cpu..
btw how much is in therm of power the difference between an atom z8700 and a core m 6y30 (cpu and gpu, just an extimate % of difference)?
Chris G
The 6Y30 GPU is around 70% or so faster (Rough guess) The leap from Atom X7 to Skylake 6Y30 is huge double the power almost. Not to mention full SSD support vs eMMC’s.

naaah Huawei Matebook looks better
Chris G
Matebook is a premium 2in1 tablet and it a completely different price group. But it does look great, love the slim design and smaller bezels. I’ll try to review one if I can.
steelicon
I hope GPS and 4G.
Rsg
wow.. Hi10 looks stunning. Glad they moved the speaker on opposite side to give stereo effects and hope they put better quality speakers.
USB C is great a edition (hope it’s not camouflage usb 2.0) But they should have kept atleast one full size port usb 3.0 on the display side.
I think Hi12 Gray keyboard will be similar to this Hi10 keyboard. Hi12 Gold keyboard with white keys is a no no for me!
Chris G
Missing a full sized port unless you use a dock is annoying, finger crossed they don’t make it a USB 2.0 Type-C otherwise it’s a waste of time.
I hope to see Hi12 keyboard pics of the black version soon. It will look normal haha. The white keys and gold is too Apple like for me personally and ugly.
Rsg
Yeah providing USB type C and in reality giving usb 2.0 is pure evil!
This Hi10 air appears slimmer than hi10. Perhaps they thought of reducing thickness but putting full size port is still slim comparatively to type C.
White keys should be banned! Any idea about the pricing or availability?
Also if you can find out from chuwi about the Hi12 dual boot version? Thanks Mate
Chris G
No idea on price for the hi12 keyboard, but it should be out soon. My guess is it would be around $40-$50 USD. And the contact gave me no info on a dual boot release. The question was ignored.
ehsan
It’s now available to buy for 270 RMB/pics in china

Are there any news on a case/stand?
Not all will look favorably at a keyboard/case which frankly offers minimal protection.
highwind
USB Type C is just the connector, it doesnt say anything about data speed… Type C with 2.0 speed is nothing particularly special or uncommon (neither is Type B with 3 / 3.1 speed)
Chris G
I think it’s worse as they don’t include adapters and we have no data benefit, just the hassle of needing to find a new adapter for USB devices.
