In case you missed the new YouTube videos, here they are. The results from the 7.9″ Xiaomi Mi Pad 2’s run of benchmarks, Geekbench 3, 3Dmark and eMMC speeds etc.
Thermals are also just like the other Z8500 models tested, up to 85 degrees and the performance is around that of the Teclast X98 Pro. And this is also the first Chinese Windows model with Wireless AC I’ve seen, finally!
The tablet also gets more praise from me for it’s clear 3.5mm audio. Zero hiss or interference on my headphones, grat screen and top notch A class build quality. So far this Windows version is just as impressive as the Android version is, just this model could have almost been perfect if it had HDMI out and MicroSD support. So yet another Chinese tablet that’s close to being perfect, but lacks something! Maybe the MiPad 3 will get it right? MicroSD, HDMI out please Xiaomi.

Chris, any troubleshooting tips? I got one from Banggood (arrived today). Powered up fine and had 40% battery life. I plugged it in to let it charge after getting on WiFi to let it do updates. I came back 30 minutes later, and the screen is black.
Pressing power with the power cable in does nothing. If I pull the power cable, I get a single green blink of an LED at the top. I’ve tried holding these combinations each for 30 minutes, both with and without the power cable attached. Power, Power + Vol Dwn, Power + Vol Up, Power + both volume directions.
Hoping you know a hidden reset procedure. 🙂

Held for 30 seconds, not minutes. Type-o 🙂

Figured something out and thought I’d at least post here, because nothing came up in Google.
I pressed and held Power for 10 seconds. I then (without lifting up from power) pressed and held Volume Up.
It just booted up. No idea why.

Do you think this would benefit from a heatsink mod, like you did the x98 Pro? If you do it, please post a video!

Hi, I want a tablet that will have no problems with it and has dual os and best performance. Can you please advice me what tablet to buy when will be avaible? Xiaomi Mi pad 2 with dual os or teclast x16 power (dual os) ??? Thanks in advance.
Srdjan Peric
if i buy the Win 10 version, will i be able to install android later and obtain dual boot?
Chris G
I’m not 100% sure of Xiaomi’s plans on this. I hope so. I would like to convert mine to dual os. But they are meant to be releasing a Dual OS version soon if Gearbest’s listing is anything to go by.

Chris, sorry to be a pain here but is there any chance you can just text xbox one or steam streaming to the tablet? I desperately want this to play my x1 but I’ve heard bad things about chinese tablet wifi. I know this tablet has AC where others don’t but presumably that doesn’t necessarily mean that the wifi can hold a consistent connection for streaming?
Chris G
Hi, yes it streams fine as long as you are in range of the host machine or wifi network and not down the road. I’ll post a test later on of this.

Okay, i admit. I looks interesting. But after the MiPad 1 debacle, i’m never buying xiaomi again… That was a clusterfrak of epic proportions…

Pretty interesting device. How are the temperatures outside? Can you hold it good or does it turn hot? (Idle / Gaming)
And is it going warm at one point or at the whole device? I hate it if one side is warm and one side cold. Thats very disturbing.
Chris G
Hi 37-38 degrees c, it gets warm on the outside after a few hours of gaming at the top where the Soc is. It’s fine. Nothing to worry about.
Chris G
Not great about 2-3% per hour, this is the norm for Atom’s
Chris
What’s its standby time? I ‘ve been burned by the chuwi’s 20hours to 0% battery, and wouldn’t want that to happen again!

– What about hardaware radio on windows version ? ( I think there is an app for that in microsoft store )
– Can you make a browsers test on mipad 2 (I want to use tablet for browsing and I would like to see how firefox works )
– I know that you connect a usb c to hdmi converter and didn’t work, but did you try to change the source of your TV to hdmi and then change screen from Windows settings ? (I mean that maybe it just doesn’t automatically change screen or your TV doesn’t change source automatically )
Chris G
Hi, Do you have the name of the app? I tried a few and it was online radio stations only. But the hardware should be there as it’s unchanged from the Android version which has FM radio.
I’ve tried my TV and two monitors, Intel settings shows nothing. My adaptors might be the issue. I’m trying one that supports the Lumia 950 which might work. I’ve not give up just yet.
Either way this tablet is a keep for me when it has dual boot which is meant to be in a month or two.

I haven’t use such an application(so I don’t know if it works), I just search for example ” hardware FM radio on microsoft store” and I found these:
https://www.microsoft.com/el-gr/store/apps/radio-fm-phone/9wzdncrfhxns
(Requires headphones which are used as the antenna)
and some other apps

Those don’t work as its for Windows phone only.
