Chuwi Lapbook 12.3 Work In Progress & Is the EZBook 3 Pro Better?

Chuwi Lapbook 12.3 Work In Progress & Is the EZBook 3 Pro Better?

I’ve had a few messages now asking when the Lapbook 12.3 review is coming. To answer that, soon. I’ve got a lot of work on and you can expect to see it hopefully by the end of this week or maybe early next week. But I can give you can update if you’ve seen the unboxing video the laptop’s build quality is great, very decent keyboard and a touchpad I would rate as being better than the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro’s. However, the keyboard isn’t as wide or the touchpad as large due that the more narrower 3:2 ratio screen Chuwi had to work with.

And then those bezels, yes they look very 2010 MacBook Air like. It does a bit to get over but once you do there is that matte coated 12.3″ Surface Pro 4 / Pro screen that looks great. I’ve also been waiting to see if there is a bios update to fix the screen brightness issue but so far nothing as of yet on the Chuwi.com forums. I’m sure it will be coming soon, however.

And a lot of you have been asking if the EZBook 3 Pro is better than the Chuwi Lapbook 12.3, yes & no. There was the Dual Band Wifi version up for sale for $219 recently if you got lucky that was a great deal but it’s now back up to it’s normal $289 price. And the Chuwi Lapbook is now selling for $299 with coupon Chuwi123.

So far the way I see it:

  • The Lapbook 12.3 has a much sharper better screen, keyboard, and touchpad. With an easy to access M.2 SSD slot. But those big bezels…
  • The EZBook 3 Pro is thinner, has a copper heatsink and better thermals. An extra USB 3.0 port. And also a little cheaper. But make sure you get the dual band wifi AC M.2 SSD version as it’s the best version. Great wireless range and speeds. (I hope to have one in a week or two once they ship to test out)

Both have similar performance with 6GB of RAM and the Intel Celeron N3450. Battery life is about the same too, 7 to 8 hours max on both with 40 brightness. Maybe slightly better on the Jumper due to the lower res 1080p screen.

  1. Hi Chris,

I am looking to buy a budget laptop in the next 2-3 days for college, but I am confused between the Ezbook 3 pro WiFi AC SSD version and Chuwi lapbook 12.3. Which one should I buy?
Also from where should I buy, Gearbest or Aliexpress?

  2. I bought the Jumper EzBook 3 Pro in the flash sale. They told me that the item is back orderd and will be in stock end if the month. Am i the only one who experienced this?

  3. I’d really like to see the 12.3 screen in a more powerful laptop. The size of the Surface Pro is great for portability, and I much prefer the screen to 16:9, especially with the massive lower bezel on most 16:9 laptops, but I find it too big and heavy to use as a tablet, so its on my lap most the time anyway. (just curious, do you do TechTablets full-time?)

  4. I’ve been hearing a lot of good things on the Chuwi Lapbook 14. Which would you choose compared with the EZBook 3 Pro dual band?

  5. What about for adobe programmes? Are these good for editing premiere pro or photoshop? Or do I still need to look for a M3/i5 computer?

    • Core M3 and Core i5 would be much better for Adobe programs. Apollo Lake can do minor photoshop and 1080p small video edits. But its slow.

  6. It sounds like if you don’t mind spending more, the Chuwi is the better option, but perhaps only just.
The ezbook 3 pro has a charger cable that is very short, the screen is ‘only’ 1080p which is still a much better screen than 768p, the touchpad struggles with 2 finger scrolling(works fine if you leave one finger on the touchpad and move one finger, maybe different for others). There is no print screen button(I use the snipping tool in windows). You have to remove the bottom to access the SSD rather than a small door, but its a job you’ll only do once so not a problem.
But having only paid $220 I’d buy the Ezbook 3 Pro again.

    • The Jumper EZBook 3 Pro was going for such a good price. I’ll see if I can do a comparison when I get my EZBook 3Pro dual band version (Just sold my E3P) But both really good laptops for the price either way you go.
