More Chuwi Hi9 Air Specs Revealed

So the full specs (almost) are now known for the MediaTek Helio X20 powered Chuwi Hi9. So we know it has a 10.1″ 2560 x 1600 fully laminated screen, maybe the same exact panel used in the Teclast Master T10. And that the build is metal, apart from the top antenna strip from before.

But new info from Chuwi shows it will ship with Android 8.0 out of the box which will be the first Chinese tablet to do so from the brands I normally review. And it has an 8000 mAh battery. The modem is a Cat 6 LTE one unlocked wit dual SIM support for worldwide use and the cameras are 5MP and 13MP with flash on the rear. 64GB of eMMC storage and 4GB of RAM. Dual-band wireless and a mid-April release date. Still no details on the port used, MicroUSB 2.0 or type-C? And will it have HDMI out and MicroSD support? My guess is it will have MicroSD but you lose a SIM in its place. But micro HDMI or mini HDMI might be missing. No GPS, otherwise it would have been mentioned.

It’s now up for sale here on Banggood.com

  1. Apparently Binai also make the same tablet with a slight change on the sim card back cover and Android 7.1 instead of 8.0

according to official specs it should launch with Android Oreo
let’s hope it has project tremble as well

  3. For what i’ve seen so far, they all say it has Micro usb. That would be so silly. Atleast it has micro hdmi out.

    • Connectivity
      TF Card Slot Yes
      Micro USB Slot Yes
      3.5mm Headphone Jack Yes
      Micro SIM Card slot

Or maybe no hdmi out. Weird choices.

  4. Losing the second SIM slot to uSD is fine… but … please… support ex-FAT.
Is USB-C too much to hope for? IIRC, to date, there is not a single Shenzen tablet or notebook with USB-C (3.1 gen 1 or gen 2).

    • GearBest states shipments of the Hi9 Air will “dispatch” between April 4 to 8. The GearBest listing is full of errors, e.g., FHD panel.

      • They look to have guessed the specs, Chuwi says it’s not ready until mid-April so not sure how they are shipping it between the 4th and 8th, unless they get exclusive stock of it first? And if they do you would think they could get the specs correct…

    • Type-C will be nice and pump express 3.0 quick charging. Hope it has it. No one of the tablets support USB 3.1 gen 1 or 2 they are all USB 3.0 only with a type-c port.

  5. Thanks Chris. I’m definitely interested in this one. Still loving my Voyo i8 Plus, especially with its excellent screen and handy kick stand. This newbie might be an upgrade, at least in the camera department. The screen will also be better, or so it seems. Fingers crossed re the sound capabilities. Thanks again for the heads up.

    • Yes, it does look good. So I will order one once released to review. Not holding my breath on those speakers.
