Teclast’s latest budget Android tablet, the X98 Air III is now up for preorder on Gearbest.com for only $138. It’s got similar specs to the X98 Air II, but the slightly slower Atom Z3735F (1.8Ghz), a new design and only Android 5.0, there is no dual OS onboard this model. Everything else is the same, IGZO LG retina screen, 2GB of RAM, Wireless-N 150mbps, BT 4.0, micro HDMI and a 32GB eMMC for storage expandable with the microSD card slot.
It’s just Android for now… However, I think it might be possible to flash the X98 Air II dual boot bios and Windows 8.1/10. But you’ll not have a valid license, so one will need to be acquired. We might even be able to flash the X98 Air 3G/II Android roms onto the tablet as the hardware is basically the same I don’t think it will be too hard.
I may get one of these to see if it is possible to convert to a super cheap dual OS retina tablet.

@Chris.
Do let us know if you get one of these and manage to flash an air2 ROM into it. If that works it might be usefull as a cheap retina tablet.
Just as you said, all the HW is basically the same as an air2 part from the Intel chipset being one version slower, but assuming the digitizer, video, audio, cameras are all the same perhaps it can work?
I was also wondering if a X89 can be flashed with a air2 ROM as again that is also a Z3735F platform, same resolution LG retina screen, same cameras, audio but as the screen is smaller it will have a different digitizer and I was told that HW addresses might be different so probably would not work…

baytrail just won’t die.
btw i don’t think you can hack dual boot onto it, unless you can flash a dual boot bios from other models without bricking it which is highly unlikely

Well Teclast just released the files for Dual Boot. More on that soon, I’ll be posting the link.

Chris. Are you getting one of these? I’d be curious to know if Mireks or Technights custom ROM’s can be flashed into these?
