The Teclast X98 Plus is the little brother of the X98 Pro I recently reviewed. It retains the 4GB of Ram, but the X5 Z8500 (2.24Ghz boost) is replaced with a X5 Z8300 (1.84Ghz boost) The Gen8 Intel HD graphics is also clocked 100Mhz lower over the X98 Pro. So it’s going to be a little slower for sure, but it’s cheaper at $199 on Banggood’s listing.
Other specs remain the same as the X98 Air3G/Air II and Air III.

The X98 Plus also has the new unibody aluminium housing the X98 Air III sports. It’s now in stock at Banggood and shipping within a day for $199. If you wait until the 11th you can get it for 6% less with coupon XMAS06.
I have ordered one of these to review on the site to review and compare it with the X98 Pro.

Hi Chris,
First of all, thank you for your efforts for newest tablets.
I am can not decided yet which would be better. X98 Plus or Cube i7 Stylus ?
Do you think x98 Plus will also be temperature issue ? And also do you think Teclast can fix the current temp. issue via BIOS update for X98 Pro ?
If this temperature issue can be fix via BIOS update I will prefer X98 Pro. If not and will same for X98 Plus, I will prefer Cube i7 Stylus.
What do you think ?
Thanks.

I have ordered one of this during 11/11 festival directly from taobao.com. My hope is that Z8300 being the lowest end CPU, it may have less battery or heat issue. I am more like a office worker using this tablet in remote locations, thus CPU is not important but memory is.
Hope I can get my delivery by 11/14….

as i wrote in another post, i’m looking for tablet for office work, (good quality for price up to 200eur) – and I was impressed this x98plus
– the price is just right
– i prefer the 4:3 screen
– according to various comparison Z8300 isn’t more powerful than x3735, but there is 4GB ram, which is usefull (and for a very little additional fee)
– i hope, ther will by cooler than Z8500
BUT by intel ARk site specification Z8300 supports only 2GB ram and on single channel ?!?
where is truth ? – can X98plus really utilize 4GB ram ? or there is some hidden issue, which is not mentioned on sellers pages

Are you shure about the aluminium body? There is a review in YouTube of the Air III and there they say the back material is plastic with an alu look.
Chris G
It should be metal, like all the X98 series.

i have an air iii. it feels every bit aluminum to me. the only way one can tell is to cut it with a knife. can i try on yours?
