Teclast has today released the dual boot bios for existing X98 Plus Windows users. With this bios and the Android Rom and Windows 10 image, you can now convert your own Windows only machine to a dual boot unit. It’s for the X98 Plus (A5C8). Teclast hesitated releasing this as you’ll lose your embedded Windows 10 Home license flashing the bios, so proceed with caution and back up your W...[Read More]
I received an email that Banggood is now stocking the Dual OS version of the X98 Plus. The email said it’s $202.99, but then on the item page the coupon ee75d0 displayed brings it down to $189. The X98 Plus is Teclast’s second dual boot Cherry Trail Atom after the X98 Pro. While not as powerful as the X5 Z8500 X98 Pro, the X98 Plus delivers over twice the battery life as the X98 Pro. A...[Read More]
Chuwi today has posted a new bios update for the 64bit version of the Hi10. Using Google translate, it looks like it fixes issues with MicroSD card class 10 or higher and bios splash screen? I think that might be the screen flicker reported on the first release batch? Only serial numbers HI10 64G42151105000 or higher should flash it, and I personally I wouldn’t flash this if you don’t...[Read More]
Finally arrived, the Hi10 dock. It’s super similar to the likes of the Transformer Book series keyboards. It locks in place well, an all plastic build apart from the latches, it feels solid and apart from being a little small as expected it works well. The finish is a matte black soft touch type, and seems okay for now. Not sure how it will hold up to months of use or scratches. But for $37 ...[Read More]
Update: Checking again today, I see that GearBest has 50 more units up for sale and the price has dropped further to $118. Gearbest has a flash sale today on the Beelink BT3 Atom X5 Z8300 mini pc. This unit looks interesting as a media play or light pc as it has dual band Wifi, 1000mbps LAN and a huge heat sink on the Atom X5 SoC which means it shouldn’t overheat and throttle over long perio...[Read More]
GearBest has a flash sale on their DLP projectors they have in stock. With low-end projectors starting at $58 on sale and other higher resolution DLP media player units going for $600 I’m not much of a projector guy myself, I prefer plain old large OLED or LED TV’s, but if you’re after a projector it’s worth a look. Cube’s new Skylake Core M3-6Y30 tablet the i9 was recently announced, but we didn’t see much on the keyboard type cover it has. Copying the Surface type cover design, these blurry photos show the Cube i9 keyboard looks like it comes in two colors? Or possible prototypes maybe? Many thanks Jin for these images!
Hands-on video with the Chuwi Vi8 Plus, I ran through my usual benchmarks, tested out the speaker and type-c port. Sadly it seems the type-c port is only USB 2.0 spec and not USB 3.0. It will run my 1TB Toshiba basics 2.5″ HDD, but speeds are limited to 40mb’s. Considering the tablet doesn’t come with an adaptor and we aren’t getting anything over USB 2.0 speeds I’m n...[Read More]
Xiaomi just launched their latest budget smartphone, the RedMi 3. It’s a 5 inch, octa core. Powered by the new Snapdragon 616, 2GB of DDR3 RAM and a 16GB Rom. The battery is a large 4100mAh and unlike the Redmi Note 3 I reviewed, it does support MicroSD cards. Spec wise you get a lot for $159, a full metal body and a 13MP and from facing 5MP camera. The only real downside I see is the screen...[Read More]
Those waiting for the Mi Pad 2 Windows 10 version (myself included) might have a longer wait. As many of the online retailers like Geekbuying and Banggood have pushed the release dates of the tablet back to the 25th of February. It was originally meant to be released back in December, that then become the second week of January and now February? The 64GB Andriod version sold out in just 5 minutes ...[Read More]
I’ve been searching high and low for an image of the dock for the up and coming Chuwi Hi12. Finally came across this image: Since the tablet is a large 12″ this gives Chuwi plenty of space for a large keyboard and touchpad. What I don’t understand is where is the touchpad? There looks to be none and those hinge joints look a bit odd. I wonder if this is the official keyboard or s...[Read More]
Pipo has a new mini pc coming, the X6S. It’s an Atom Cherry Trail X5 Z8300 mini PC with 2 or 4GB of RAM, 32/64GB eMMC for storage, but it has a 2.5″ SATA II slot, so you could add a harddrive 1TB drive in to expand your storage. The X6S comes with Windows 10 Home and it’s even fan cooled. It’s not a bad move considering the Cherry Trails are much hotter than the older Bay T...[Read More]
