Chuwi Vi8 Plus is now out and I got hold of one yesterday, it’s basically a black Chuwi Hi8 Pro with the Vi8’s lower spec screen. (1280 x 800 resolution) The Type-C port, Atom X5 Z8300, 2GB of Ram and 32GB of the Hi8 Pro are there. It’s $91.99 from Banggood.com with the 8% off coupon f4644d.
First impressions:
- Just like the Hi8 build, but in black
- Speaker is average, same as the Hi8’s
- The 1280 x 800 screen could be brighter, the 1920 x 1200 panel is definitely brighter
- Latest Windows 10 Home with the November update included.
- 19.6 GB free, better than some 32GB eMMC tablets which only have around 14GB
- Decent build for the price, feels solid
- Ncard eMMC, either a Foree or BWIN card. Same as the Hi8 and Vi8’s.
- Type-C port seems to b e only USB 2.0 Type-C, which is a shame. No real advantage having it.

Yes you can there is enough space there for both cables.

My vi 8 plus has problem with SD card, after reboot SD is gone, once take out and then back in, works… reboot the tablet, bum sd card gone 🙁 And the touch screen goes weired when charging.
Othervise its wery nice tablet, love it 🙂

FIXED! installed win10 PRO and now SD card work nice and touch screen its not messed up when charging.

It looks like the Hi8 Pro will be the one to go for if the screen is significantly better like Chris thinks it will be. There doesn’t seem to be much difference in the price between the two models.
Of course when the Hi8 Pro is released is anyone’s guess. Who is hogging all the 8″ 1200p panels?

I would rather get the Mi Pad 2 if you can, such it’s almost twice as much but the build is crazy good. Not sure, but the Teclast X80 Pro will have a 1920 x 1200 panel. Maybe they are in sort supply?

The lack of SD card slot kills the Mi Pad 2 for me. The X80 Pro looks comparable to the Hi8 Pro in many ways so will definitely be an option.

NCard in device manager, so a BWIN or FORSEE brand eMMC. So not the fastest, 75mb/s read and 32mb/s writes. Same as the Hi8 and Vi8, nothing has changed there…
