Chuwi Hi12 Review Video

Chuwi Hi12 Review Video

So I decided to create a full video review of the Chuwi Hi12. Also included in this one is a size, screen and sound comparison test versus the Chuwi Hi10, Teclast X98 Air III and Surface Pro 4 which might be of interest. I’ve also (finally) received my Chuwi Hi8 Pro. Unboxing clip of that to follow tomorrow.

  1. Hey guys, I have a few questions about the Hi12.
I’m the owner of Chuwi’s vi8 and I’m rather happy with it, but also I know how little it has cost me. It has some flaws which are acceptable in sub-90 bucks tablet, but not in nearly 300 one, like the hi12. So:
    – my vi8 has some problems with registering quick touches on keyboard. For example, when I try to write ‘keyboard’ very quick, it writes maybe ‘kbord’ because orher touches were not registered or something. If I write slowly, it works ok.
    – Bluetooth and USB mices do not work properly. They tend to ‘jump’ with the cursor, not moving smoothly. Also every 2 od 3 times when I use bt mouse I have to delete it from known devices and pair it as new because if I won’t it will not connect.
    – the battery drains reaaally fast when device is in sleep mode. Even though it is sleeping it holds the wi-fi connection on, so if I won’t turn off wi-fi before putting it to sleep after 3 or 4 hours there is barely half of battery left.

Tell me, are those, or maybe other, issues concerning the Hi12? Because after reading the reviews it looks like the best sub-300 buck w10 convertible out there, but not if it will be flawed by such things (I want to use this tablet mostly for work, I’m local Internet provider so I need device which is light and not expensive because it will be often used on roofs, chimneys etc)

  2. Hi Chris,

Just want to ask, is Chuwi going to release a dual boot version of Hi12 for ANDROID & Windows 10 soon? I’m thinking about grabbing this tablet but wanting to have that android OS to come along with it. Thanks

  3. Chuwi Hi12 Critical Power Crashes –

I just got a Chuwi Hi12 yesterday in the mail. It charged and booted initially fine. My problem is there have been 6 critical kernal power crashes (win 10 system logs) since last night where the tablet completely crashes (like the battery disconnected). Each time it crashed I was doing something different with the tablet (browsing/email/netflix/..) so I could not find any obvious pattern that might be causing it.

When the tablet is running it’s great but I’m obviously concerned about the usability of a tablet that randomly crashes a few times a day.

I just sent an email to the retailer to see what options I have for replacement. Will keep folks posted as this site was a big reason I was so excited about this particular tablet.

  4. When will the stylus model will be out?

  5. Could you please check if Secure Boot can be disabled on the tablet’s UEFI menu in order to boot other OS like Linux or Android (RemixOS)?

    Thanks in advance!

  6. how can using 4Gb of ram if atom 8300 can only handle 2GB

  7. Chuwi Hi12 Keybard pictured?

In the official Chuwi Youtube channel a video has been uploaded which shows Chuwi Hi12 tablet mounted on keyboard/stand. This is actually one of the keyboards that had been posted around as a possible match for the tablet but had been dismissed as such.

    Well, here it is
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xykxcDJvp7Q

    • If you look at the comments on that video, Chris has already seen it and confirmed that its just a generic Bluetooth one – it doesn’t use the pogo pins on bottom of the tablet.

      • Did you read my post? I said it had already been seen in pictures and dismissed as being the “official” keyboard…

However this same keyboard is now featuring in an OFFICIAL CHUWI video (Chuwi Youtube Channel).

Could it be they just used a generic stand/keyboard to film the tablet in action?
Sure….but I believe it is something more significant than a random picture of keyboard stand.

        • I’m sure they are just using that generic keyboard to show off the tablet, however the channel did reply to one of the questions in the comment section and said that it is indeed the original keyboard.

Seems like the people running the channel don’t really know what is happening with the keyboard- really hope they don’t leave the hi12 without one

  8. Sm are listing chuwi Hi8 pro as dual boot.is dt correct pls?
