Voyo vBook v3 Atom X5 Z8300 Review (Video)

Voyo vBook v3 Atom X5 Z8300 Review (Video)

Voyo’s vBook v3 is a larger version of the Onda oBook 11 I reviewed. Unfortunately, it shares the same issues. The screen high pitch whine noise, USB 3 port issues and a new one. Trouble waking from sleep. While the price wasn’t bad at $232 (Was on special offer, plus some rather expensive postage) I don’t think it’s worth it unless Voyo fix these issues. Sure the build is great, the screen is bright and not at all bad for a 1080p 13.3-inch unit.

There is also a Skylake version coming for $415, which will almost triple the power and give us full SSD speeds. Will the issues be fixed in the Skylake vBook v3 Ultimate? I certainly hope so.

A bios update should be able to fix the USB and sleep issue. If I was to rate it out of ten it would get a 6.5 maybe even a 7 if it would come out of sleep when it should.

The vBook v3 drivers are here if anyone needs them. Now that that’s out of the way, I can get back to my Chuwi Hi12  testing and review.

  1. Hello!!! Someone Fixed the Wifi on the Voyo V3 ultrabook?? the Mega Link are encripted… pls someone post the encriprion Key! Thanks

  2. Hey Chris, how many points would you give this convertible? 8.x?

  3. Did anybody managed to get the original OS to download?
I could really need it, since the original Windows directly from Microsoft doesn’t work well.

    • OK, i found it by myself. If anybody need the installation files, here is the link
      https://yadi.sk/d/9ixK06sZovfdq

    • I managed to get the drivers from their website after a lot of struggle. I uploaded them to another website just in case others need them: https://mega.nz/#!hVB0Ea6Y

The wifi driver is giving some security warning when you try to install it. I already had it working (using other drivers I found) so I decided to not install it when I saw the warning. The rest of them made my camera and touchscreen work properly though so they are good.

  4. Buenas haber si me podéis ayudar y poner un enlace para poder descargar la iso de fabrica del voyo vbook 3 muchas gracias y magnífica web teneis

  5. Hello, is the battery replaceable? Thanks

    • Not user replaceable. But if you open it up you can replace it.

  6. Hi everyone, signed in. I have a voyo vbook v3,and i noticed that it has a sim slot, but i couldn’t find anything to connect it whith. there is no related connection in the section, only bluetooth and wifi. does anyone knows how to make it work?
    thank you

  7. So as I stated earlier, I reinstalled windows 10, and now have no touch screen “KMDF HID Minidriver for Touch 12C Device” and the wifi will no work, in the device manger it says the router is working well, but it has a red x in the system tray and it will not detect any networks. Anybody have any idea? I did use the drivers from here, and that got most of the stuff working again.

    • Hi man!
I actually have the same problem! You fix it? I don’t have wifi…and the touchscreen it’s doing strange things (the response it’s like a mirror…it’s impossible!!)

      • I never could get it fixed. I even had bests buys geek squad look into it, and they could not get it working. I just returned the device.

        • Ok….
Gearbest says that if I change the OS, I lose the guarranty…
Now…I have a stupid pc…without internet, without touchscreen. Maybe I try this night with Ubuntu…

          • Hey guys! I fixed it! I had the same problem (not touch, no access to router, no change of brighness…) I have emailed to Voyo and I got the link to the OS. But this was at yunoan.cn (chinese cloud hoster) and with my German Phone Number I could register… but with help of a teammate I could download it… include with the chinese manual… But after 3 hours now my VBook works! O.k. only chinese language but I managed it to my language…
I would like to access you to the files, but they are bigger than 6,6 GB…
Maybe I´ll buy an USB Stick and sell them at ebay… or someone else has an idea???

          • uuuh write error:

            ….and with my German Phone Number I couldn´t register….

          • A little bit late but I managed to get the drivers from their website after a lot of struggle. I uploaded them to another website just in case others still need them: https://mega.nz/#!hVB0Ea6Y

  8. I picked up two of these from gearbest (one for the wife).
Can you point me to some info on how to remove the Chinese from these machines? I recall some discussion but when I put ‘chinese’ in the ‘search the site’ button on this forum, I see too many articles.

  9. Hi Chris

I have the same trouble coming out of sleep with my Obook 11, do you know whether there is a fix?

    Cheers, Liam

    • No sorry, I think a bios update is the only way to address this. But I have a suspicion it could be the display drivers. Try another Intel GFX driver maybe and see if that helps?

    • I actually called Microsoft, and the reinstalled windows 10 for me, however all the drivers where not installed. I then downloaded the drivers from this page, and it helped with everything but the wifi, and the touch screen. But the reinstall of windows 10 from Microsoft did fix the Chinese issue.

    • I just turned sleep off. I had the same problem

  10. Hello Chris

I have a question that’s been on my mind all bloody day, I’m planning on getting the cube i9 and thankfully getting rid of this piece of crap (xiomi mipad) however I will miss the android side of things. I know they’re not dual boot but do you think the bluestacks (android emulator) will perform better or at least well, with the hardware being better 🙂

    • Hi, It should. Since the hardware is quite powerful blue-stacks should run well, but never as good as running naively. And not even as good as the Mi Pad. But it should be okay as the Core M3 is quite a beast (For a fanless tablet chipset)

  11. Oh well, I really had my hopes high on this unit. No pressure sensitivity is the deal breaker (assuming boot bugs will be fixed in the core m version). The cheapest option for a yoga-style ultrabook with pen support is apparently spending 650€ on a used actual lenovo yoga thinkpad.

  12. Chris,well done.pls,wch 8-inch dual boot tab would u recommend with Win10 plus android 5,best screen and build quality,and 3G?

    • There is no dual boot out with 3G and Win 10. The iwork8 3G, but now that’s last years model and has Windows 8.1. Check around and see if it was updated to Windows 10.

      • Hi Chris! Can you ask me what’s the best yoga-style notebook/tablet that costs under 350$ ? Will it Onda oBOOK 12?
