iFive Mini 4S Review / RePad 8 Review Online

iFive Mini 4S Review / RePad 8 Review Online

The iFive Mini 4S / RePad 8 review is now online, also rebadged in the USA as the RePad 8 which is essentially the exact same tablet, just with a different logo or the rear panel and bottom speaker grill is slightly different. For $125 (The lowest I’ve seen it going) you get quite a lot, fully laminated 7,9-inch IPS panel with sharp 2048 x 1536 resolution in a full metal 6.9mm thin body. As expected the 4800mAh battery is the tablet’s weakness, giving around 5 hours max battery life. And sadly my unit at least has an annoying buzz over the 3.5mm jack. So this meant it didn’t score as high in my rating for sound and battery life, apart from that it’s a great deal for the price. Just enough power for gaming, a fabulous stock Android 6.0 ROM and launcher so it’s quick.

Just enough power for gaming, a fabulous stock Android 6.0 ROM and launcher so it’s quick.  I’m looking forward to reviewing more tablets from FNF / 5 iFive who are still releasing 4:3 ratio tablets (apart from Samsung’s Tab S3) were others all focused on the 2-in-1 16:10 or 16:9 tablets.

If you do get one, make sure you update to firmware 1.04 before you use it to increase the max screen brightness and fix the camera crashing bug. My Pros and cons with rating are in the Repad 8 / iFive Mini 4S review.

And how to get it for $125? Just use coupon ifive21 here at GearBest. It’s the cheapest I’ve seen it, I got mine for $140 a few weeks ago so it shows you how the price has changed in such a short time!

Chinese tablet news, hands on videos and reviews of the latest Chinese tablets. I don't review or cover just anything, only tablets I think are good enough and worth the attention.

  1. I bought the Ifive mini 4 for about £180 (i think) back end of 2014 and this s version offers nothing new in addition except the upgrade to android 6 and the volume rocker. The chipset and features are exactly the same . However the mini 4 is the sweetest little tablet and still going strong after a few years.

Now the rumoured Ifive mini 4g? That I’d buy!

  2. just ordered – looks great thanks for the review Chris. does anyone know of any compatible cases for this model?

    • I just bought mine, and I got a belkin 7.9″ case designed for iPad Minis. Fits like a glove and works excellently.

      https://goo.gl/hRgkHa – here’s an image of it

PS, my model has no static on the headphone jack. Wifi is okay but 5G connection sucks, so I stick to my 2.4GHz. the battery is godawful but its not a huge issue with what I use it for. Screen is gorgeous and for $99 USD ($133 CAD) it was an absolute steal

      • You have to take the price into account and I always do when I review these tablets. As you say for $99 it’s a steal, fully laminated screen, the build etc. Sure the battery is 4 hours tops, but look at the price. That case looks good too.

  3. It’s £80 on flash sale at gearbest this week http://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_602714.html?wid=11

    • Great, thank you! Too bad that they only ships between Mar 12 – Mar 24 but I ordered anyway. For this price I think it is no brainer.

  4. I love mine a lot. The battery is only an issue if I was ever to take it out of the house and I have no plans on using it on the go. I’m playing tomb Raider II on mine with a moga controller, and of course, it’s perfect for youtube. The screen is just the sweetest thing.

    • Yes great little tablet for the price, if only that battery was a little larger. Does your one suffer from a buzz noise over the 3.5mm port?

      • I can confirm my model is buzz-free. Speakers are okay, too, not great but better than other tablets I bought in this price range in the past

        • Great to hear it’s not all units, maybe they have fixed it. It’s often the case when I review something later they fix it in later batches. But slso it goes the other way they change hardware and introduce new problems.

      • Oh, and if it matters my serial number is GB8ZAWL76P
