Chuwi has just announced their third Lapbook laptop is coming, the Chuwi Lapbook 12.3. This laptop unlike the other two with 1080p screens has a top-tier display in it, a 2736 x 1824 resolution 3:2 aspect ratio screen. It’s the same panel as used in the Surface Pro 4. The Chuwi Lapbook 12.3 is metal clad and has 6GB of RAM just like the Jumper EZBook Pro, Teclast X3 Plus and Cube iwork3X.
Other specs include 64GB of eMMC storage with an empty M.2 2242 SSD slot inside for expansion. Intel wireless AC and a USB 3.0 port. Judging from the pictures it also has a microSD slot, and 12 volt D/C charging. No doubt like the 2 other Lapbook models it will have mini HDMI out and other USB port (Possibly just USB 2.0)
Chuwi states it will be out by the end of April. It’s listed on Gearbest already and the price unknown at this point. My guess is around $330 USD.
So far 2017 is shaping up to be a big year for the Chinese tablet and laptop companies. What do you think? I think it looks good, I love the fact it has a Surface Pro 4 screen in it and 6GB of RAM, were finally breaking out of the 4GB limit of last year. the all idea is good enough cpu like m3 cpu, 2 in 1 tablet , 12.5′ – 13.5′ screen, for maximum 400$, and we dont need 2k or 3k screen with celeron cpu- it will lag like hell, its like using snapdragon 200 with 2k screen, are you out of your mind

I would totally get it if the price is reasonable.
Chinese laptops really stepping up their game lately. Using nicer screen and not using those Atom anymore (bonus 6GB RAM).

Chuwi has nice products and this is one more. I think they should install a Core M CPU in one of them as a most “pro” lapbook (maybe for 14.1 model). Last year models were always based on Atom x5.
And something I see in many keyboards (tablets and lapbooks): why not dedicated home/end buttons?? Some keyboards have PageUp/Home and PageDown/End button over the left/right cursors (even Hi13 has them in a dedicated column!). I miss some more standardization about the layout.

I’ve had a go at them in my videos about that, missing print screen button is a major for me and brightness controls more than page up and down. And I would love to see a Core M3 model from Chuwi for once. They have yet to release one.

Chuwi are really stepping up their game lately. I just wish it would have 14.1 inch screen just as the Lapbook 14.1, 12.3 really seems a bit too small to me. Maybe it’s also time to break the 64GB EMMC threshold and get 128GB ones instead. I think that would qualify for around 300€ as an acceptable price here.

Hi, 12.5″ in my Mi Notebook I find is okay, I wouldn’t want to go any lower on a notebook. Be nice if we got a 14.1″ Lapbook 14.1 with 6GB of RAM or 8GB. The 64GB eMMC doesn’t worry me if it’s got that M.2 SSD slot which lucky for us it does. You can get much quicker performance than any eMMC with a SATA3 drive.

Hi Chris. Yeah, it’s true. The screen size is probably just a matter of getting used to it. I really found my sweet spot with 14.1 inch somehow. Compared to my 15.6 inch older model, it’s really nice to save some weight (my old acer was 2.1 kg). With the smaller screen bezels that are now commonly implemented, one can easily also save on the dimensional side.
Regarding the space, it’s probably a rather easy way to save money without compromising on performance. I’m fine with 64 GB EMMC and an 128 GB MicroSD.
Still amazing how far these laptops have come in only the past year or so. Makes me wonder how more common brands such as Acer, HP, Samsung or Dell will react to this. Probably they will still go on like before, since these Chinese devics are still for the more experienced user I guess.

For most tasks the vertical viewing area is key (except for watching videos.) And the vertical viewing area on a 12.3″ 3:2 screen is identical to that of a 14″ standard 16:9 screen.

I had a Surface pro 4 for about 6 months and loved it. The screen is really top notch and great for reading. The only thing is it might be a little slower since it has to drive a lot more pixels. But 6GB of RAM should help there.
