Chuwi Lapbook 12.3 Released. Laptop With Surface Pro 4 Screen (Update)

Chuwi Lapbook 12.3 Released. Laptop With Surface Pro 4 Screen (Update)

Update#2. Chuwi Lapbook 12.3 arrived. My first impressions and unboxing are here.

Update: My Chuwi Lapbook 12.3 has shipped, so look for the unboxing hopefully Thursday if I get time or Friday (Depends on DHL too). I’m looking forward to getting my hands on this one. I see that the deal with the free accessories pack has been extended, just a tip make sure select it in the listing the gift pack for $0 as it’s not automatically selected or added! So I’m not even sure I got it with my order.

The Chuwi Lapbook 12.3 has launched and first stock is to be sold by Gearbest at a lower price of $319 with some free gifts (A cheap pouch, 8GB pen drive and mouse). The Lapbook 12.3 is a full metal Celeron N3450 laptop. It has 6GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 64GB eMMC 5.0, M.2 SSD slot for expansion, wireless AC and a 37Wh battery. The best part, it’s screen. The Surface Pro 4 and Surface Pro 2017 12.3-inch 3:2 aspect ratio screen. It’s not a  touchscreen, but it will be just the screen, so no non-laminated glass gap or anything which should mean it will look great.

I was a little concerned about the impact it would have on the speed of the system such a high resolution, but if it’s anything like the Chuwi Hi13. It’s not slower really, in fact gaming was fast than other models running the same CPU.

There are 100 units at this lower $319 price, further Chuwi laptop and tablet deals can be found here. They have the Lapbook 14.1 for $235.99 and various other offers.

And if you’re wondering if we will get a tablet with that great screen there is the Chuwi SurBook, due for release in July. Now, if they would only release both a Core M3 laptop and tablet. Something with a little more power than the Celeron N3450 Apollo Lake would be nice.

And yes, I’ll be reviewing this Lapbook 12.3 in a few weeks when it arrives.

  1. Did you resolve the brightness issues? Yes, I have seen and shared your video already.

    • No, but 50% to 75% I see a tiny increase in brightness. 75% to 100% nothing at all. I think a bios update should correct it, just a matter of waiting for it.

  2. Bezels are really ‘huge’, Chuwi style

  3. Do you think this is a better tablet comparing to oBook 11 with m3 (although 11″ FHD touch screen and 4GB of RAM)?

  4. Use code Gearbest02 to get the Chuwi 12.3 for $299.99(comes with the accessories)

  5. thought it was gonna have touchscreen

  6. I just did something impulsive and bought this laptop. It will be for my wife to use. She browses the web and does some light Office work. Based on your other reviews of machines in this class, I think this is going to be more than enough for her. Lets see if I regret my purchase decision in a few weeks.

    • I should be good, only downsides I see so far are the large bezels around the screen and a little heavier than others. I’ll know hopefully next week when mine arrives. Still hasn’t shipped yet, but ordered it only yesterday.

  7. Thank you very much Chris, just waiting for your review not hurry to buy it.Anyway tell myself not pay more than 320 usd ha ha.

  8. @chris, a new one, Voyo Vbook V2, with SSD slot…

  9. Very interesting, the key question is matte or glossy screen?

I tried asking on gearbest, but the reply was “it’s capacitive” …. meh !

    • No idea, I think it’s glossy (Hope not) Will find out soon when I get mine. Glossy will be okay since the screen is very bright by default, but not ideal. I prefer anti-glare matte. However, a matte screen protector should fix that.
