The Mi5S I would say is one step forward and two back from the Mi5, why? Well, the build quality is slightly better thanks to the more solid feeling full alloy unibody (No more glass rear) But the Mi5S while it gains a new fingerprint reader, faster chipset, NFC and new 12MP Sony IM378 sensor (Same as the Google Pixel) it loses optical image stabilization. Which I believe is a must for any flagsh...[Read More]
Taking a break from the Atom X5 Z8300 tablets (I’m not reviewing anymore until the new Z8X50’s Cherry Trail revisions are released) I’ve ordered a few flagship Chinese mobiles to review the Le Pro 3 from LeEco, Xiaomi Mi 5S and the Mi 5S Plus. Yesterday my Xiaomi Mi5S arrived. Here’s the unboxing video, including an audio test and video test. The Xiaomi Mi 5S’s build ...[Read More]
I reviewed the Tbook 16S last week, this is the Tbook 16 Pro version that has no kickstand and uses an ASUS transformer style keyboard. The keyboard is sadly most all plastic apart from the metal supports, it looks metal in the press images and somewhat thinner too. It’s $209 from GearBest, the keyboard is an additional $35. The tablet is solidly built, but I discovered that in suffers from ...[Read More]
If you missed the video review on YouTube, here it is below. I’m disappointed in this latest Teclast Tbook 16S model, the biggest issue is the ROM in Android for me, some games like Real Racing 3 just locked up at times, even to the point I had to power the system off and back on again. It felt slow and sluggish at times, performance limited by RAM running at only 1066Mhz and not 1600Mhz. It...[Read More]
My Jumper EZBook air review is now online. The video review is below with some more details, pros and cons with rating here. While I like the weight and size of it being super portable machine, it’s flawed only having a single USB type-c port and 3.5mm (Copying Apple’s Macbook Air) If you’re someone that doesn’t often use USB ports much on a notebook and you don’t min...[Read More]
Teclast’s Weibo just recently posted an image of a Tbook Windows 10 system powered by an Atom Z8550 (The Z8X50’s) are the refreshed slightly faster Atom Cherry Trails chips. It also shows the system has 8GB of RAM. Hopefully it will also have wireless AC. So looks like there will be another Tbook release coming, but it’s great to see it’s not another Z8300 (Finally!) Edit: ...[Read More]
Jumpers EZbook 2 turned out to be an okay notebook for the price and I enjoyed mine. Which lead me to get this latest model from Jumper, the EZbook Air. It’s 11.6″ with a glossy 1080p screen, it comes in champagne gold only so far. Powered by an Atom X5 Z8300 & 4GB like the Ezbook 2. But the good things are, Intel wireless AC, 128GB eMMC and most metal housing. I say mostly as the s...[Read More]
The larger and more powerful Mi Notebook Air 13 has just recently been reviewed. The 13.3″ Notebook features the same premium build as the 12.5″ model. But instead of s fanless Core M3-6Y30 it’s powered by an Intel Core i5 6200U, 8GB of 2133Mhz DDR4 RAM, dedicated Nvidia 940MX 1GB GPU and 256GB NVMe Samsung SSD. So a big step up in power and in my testing it can even play GTA V w...[Read More]
Another new Teclast release, I spotted this on the new release devices listed on Gearbest. It looks just like a larger version of the Tbook 16 Pro but instead of 11.6″, it’s 12.2″ with a 1920 x 1200 16:10 aspect ratio screen. Teclast claim the thinnest edge of the tablet is just 4mm, and it has thin bezels. Here’s hoping that’s true as the Tbook 16S I’m currentl...[Read More]
I’ve just finished my Pipo X10 review, unfortunately, it’s no better in my eyes than the Pipo X9. Sure if has a few upgrades but in the end the rest of the hybrid mini pc/tablet is let down by quality issues. You can see the Pipo X10 review here with pros and cons and my final verdict or catch the review below: Next up the Teclast Tbook 16S review, Jumper EZBook Air (Cheap Atom Macbook...[Read More]
This is the larger and more powerful 13.3″ Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air. It’s powered by a Core i5 6200U, 8gb of DDR4 clocked to 2133Mhz, 256GB Samsung NVMe SSD and Nvidia 940MX GPU with 1GB of DDR5 ram for 3D. It’s got switchable graphics so depending on what you’re doing it will use the Nvidia GPU or Intel 520 iGPU. It’s $649 here http://www.gearbest.com/laptops/pp_42198...[Read More]
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 review. The new sub $200 4G dual SIM king? Xiaomi’s mid to low range Redmi Note 4 packs a bunch for the starting price of $160, you get a lot. A MediaTek 10 core Helio X20 (Antutu score around 88k) a really nice 1080p 5.5″ screen, 16GB to 64GB of internal storage, dual sim, MicroSD support and you even get fingerprint reader security. The build is decent considering...[Read More]
