How to open the Mi Notebook Air and add a second SSD. The Mi Notebook Air (Both models) have a spare slot for another SSD. Now this is meant to be added by Xiaomi when you order your unit from them. However, it is possible with a bit of force to open the rear alloy housing up and add your own. In the below how to video, I show you how to open the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 12.5″, the 13.3″...[Read More]
Our Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air arrived today, it’s the 12.5″ version. This one has an Intel Skylake Core M3-6Y30, 4GB of 1866Mhz dual channel RAM, 128GB Samsung SATA3 SSD and a spare slot to add another even. And because I’m impatient, I had this sent out with Windows 10 Chinese only, knowing all too well it will not allow me to change it over to English. But now there is an option ...[Read More]

So here’s my full review of the Xiaomi Mi Max. It’s a huge 6.44″ mobile, that is very similar to the Redmi Note 3 Pro I reviewed. As this model has the same spec apart from the screen. Please see the below time codes to skip ahead to parts of the Xiaomi Mi Max review that interest you most. This is a long review. 00:52 – Design And Build 02:30 – Size comparison 03:14 ...[Read More]
Here it is the biggest Xiaomi mobile phone and the biggest mobile I’ve ever had. A whopping 6.44 inches makes even my Note 5 and S6 Edge+ look small. The Mi Max is basiclly an upsized Redmi Note 3 Pro. It shares the same specs (apart from the screen size) A Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 or 652, 3GB or 4GB of RAM. A 32GB, 64GB or 128GB Rom, 16MP PDAF rear camera, dual SIM and MicroSD card support i...[Read More]
I’ve updated the Mi Pad 2 Review to now include the Windows 10 model and benchmarks. The score hasn’t changed, despite its flaws, no MicroSD, USB 3 or HDMI* support. It’s easily the best (and most expensive) mini tablet out of China. The build is A-Class, the screen is fully laminated, super responsive and the cameras and sound are on of the best after my Surface Pro 4. Battery l...[Read More]
In case you missed the new YouTube videos, here they are. The results from the 7.9″ Xiaomi Mi Pad 2’s run of benchmarks, Geekbench 3, 3Dmark and eMMC speeds etc. Thermals are also just like the other Z8500 models tested, up to 85 degrees and the performance is around that of the Teclast X98 Pro. And this is also the first Chinese Windows model with Wireless AC I’ve seen, finally...[Read More]
It’s been a long wait, but finally Mi Pad 2 Windows models are now shipping out from Xiaomi after the first batch sold out in hours. I received mine yesterday. The build is as expected, like an Apple product and exactly the same as the Android version I reviewed. Even the backlit home keys are in the Android configuration and no Windows icon for the home button to be seen. Maybe cost cutting...[Read More]
While I wait for DHL to drop my Mi Pad 2 Windows version off to me today, I noticed that GearBest has a Mi Pad 2 Dual Boot version listed. I see nothing about it on the Xiaomi Weibo, only Xiaomi Mi5 teasers for the 24th. So is it a leak that’s yet to be announced? It’s a 64GB model (16GB Dual OS wouldn’t work!) and it’s up for preorder at a rather pricey $285 ouch. I’...[Read More]
Yes, not a tablet but now and then I do review interesting mobiles from China. I’ll admit I’ve taken a liking to Xiaomi’s recent products, this company is really setting the standard for price-performance ratio with it comes to mobile phones. And their Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro is the latest mobile to do so yet again. It features the new 2016 Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 Hexacore, which...[Read More]
Those waiting for the Mi Pad 2 Windows 10 version (myself included) might have a longer wait. As many of the online retailers like Geekbuying and Banggood have pushed the release dates of the tablet back to the 25th of February. It was originally meant to be released back in December, that then become the second week of January and now February? The 64GB Andriod version sold out in just 5 minutes ...[Read More]
My Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 review is now online. It’s a great tablet and it has to be the best 7.9″ to 8″ tablet currently out from China. Nothing will match the quality offered by Xiaomi at this price point. Sure it’s not a perfect tablet missing a MicroSD card slot, but damn it’s good for the $185 price. You can read my full review here with benchmarks, gaming tests and cam...[Read More]
