The cheaper version of the Cube i9 is has arrived, the iwork12. Like the iwork11 it’s the cheap Atom version of Cube’s Core M3 flagship. Not a lot as changed, gone is the Core M3 6Y30, replaced with a cheaper Atom X5 Z8300. The 128GB SSD for storage is now a 64GB eMMC and the type-c port is a USB 2.0 port for charging and data.
What we do gain is Android / Windows 10 dual boot and it’s now only in white. It’s for sale on GearBest, which is where I got this unit. A little pricey at $265, but you get a nice Cube build, that kickstand and a Surface Pro 3 like tablet. Here’s is the unboxing video:
First impressions:
- Light stock Android 5.1 Rom. No custom launcher.
- Play Store is installed
- Same exact build quality as the Cube i9 (Solid and well put together)
- Doesn’t look too bad in white for a change.
- Toshiba 064GE2 eMMC (Brand eMMC and not slower NCard rubbish!)
- Realtek Wireless N
- Windows 10 Home
- 32.8 GB Free on first boot in Windows.
- 7.22 GB free storage in Android
So, so far so good. The screen feels responsive to touch and it seems to perform well and feels fast. But i’ve yet to go through my benchmarks with it and really test it out. More on that soon…

Hi,
Is it possible to boot directly to Android in this case and in general on other tablets? Is Android better for browsing websites on tablets?
Andrew
Hi yes when you start from the tablet shutdown it boots to a screen that gives you an option to select windows or android if you do not select it will boot to windows.
As for browsing I have had android for the last 2 years but find at the moment use the windows more but android browsers seem more feature rich.

I bought the iwork12, hope it will arrive in 10-15 days. And so I will be fixed if it worth it compared to the Chuwi hi12 🙂
Andrew
Im expecting mine in the next few days i also have chosen this over the Hi12 the Chuwi looks better but with all the problems listed on the net in regards to quality and the cubes kickstand and quality name i went for cube heres hoping

Same for me..
But actually I have some problems with GearBest.. They activated the anti fraud ticket. So they want me to send a pic of my ID card and a bill from the shipping adress.. This quite annoying and scary at the same time.
Andrew
Ive near had that problem with gearbest yet but have heard of it gearbest tracking actualy shows it just scanned into australia ooooohhh cant wait.
FaZeR - Unboxer
Well.. you are pretty lucky.. I will have to go through a real mess to have it soon..
FaZeR - Unboxer
Okay they accepted the papers.. sigh. I had to give a picture of my identity card + a recent bill witht the shipping address on it..

iwork12 looks very nice . why Chuwi Hi12 don’t have kickstand ? i think it’s very usefull in home use.

Seeing that it’s built like an i9 does that mean I can add in an ssd?
Miguel
Hi Chris,
Do you have any idea on how to get the android ROM that is installed in the tablet? I supose that also in the BIOS there should be the option to select OS on booting. Can you check?
The idea is to finally make the Cube i9 dual boot.

Hi Chris, i will buy a windows tablet and i dont know if this one is better than the chuwi hi 12?
I just know a little about this two brands and love the cube i9 but is too expensive for me and the chuwi hi12 and the cube i12 are cheaper but i just wanna be sure to spend my money in the best of this two tablets. Sorry for my bad english and thanks Chris for ur cool videos
Andrew
I also think it would be better than the hi12. I hope bit the bullet and ordered one it would have been better with an x8500 for the price though. Hoping Gearbest are right and it takes the stylus.
Marc Schmidt Le Roi
No support stylus ?
Chris G
No stylus support.
Daniel
Looks great, I am considering to order this module rather than Chuwi Hi12
Jhon Lee
HI, Chris G
When you review it, please check battery life and memory clock speed for GPU.
Thanks.
Chris G
Sure it will be checked out. You mean the memory speed if it’s 1600Mhz or 1066Mhz?
Jhon Lee
Yes, I want to know memory speed if it’s 1600Mhz or 1066Mhz.
