Chuwi Dual OS MiniPC The HiBox-Hero

Chuwi Dual OS MiniPC The HiBox-Hero

Update: Gearbest.com now has it in stock, $129.99 with coupon GBCWH.

Chuwi just entered the notebook market with the Chuwi Lapbook series, and now Mini PC’s. The HiBox-Hero is a dual OS mini PC, I have only seen Android or Windows 10, so this is good to see. It’s got the revised Atom X5 Z8350, 4GB of RAM and dual-band wireless AC. 64GB of internal storage and a 1000M Lan port. USB ports we get 3 of them 1 is USB 3.0 and also a full sized HDMI out and SD card slot,  so spec wischuwi-hibox-hero-image-10e it has it covered.

There is even an optional 2.4Ghz air motion mouse remote they call it for media controls.

Doesn’t seem to be listed yet on Banggood.com, but i did find it on Gearbest for $148 and there is an option to get the correct power plug for your region. Not sure I’ll review this one, but if there is the demand for it I might, let me know in the comments.

  1. I just came here to see if you’d reviewed it yet. Chuwi has been posting lots of ads on their Facebook page for it. Someone needs to review it – and I’d prefer to read YOUR review! 🙂

    • I’ve ordered one, so it should be here hopefully before Xmas. But it’s yet to ship. I’ll have the Voyo V1 mini PC on Tuesday, that one is the Apollo Lake N4200 version. But I like the idea of the remote and dual band wifi 1Gbps port for streaming is great.

I hope Chuwi give us a Core M or N4200 model of this if it’s good.

  2. Would it be possible to make a comparison between this and the Vorke V1 which is on sale now at GeekBuying @155USD, it has J3160 which I think for powerful than the Z8350.

  3. I’d certainly like to see a review. Although I really think the Atom X5 zed lacks the horsepower to consistently do 4K HEVC video decode, even though Intel swears up-and-down that it does. The type of HDMI makes a difference here. For this box to be near-future proof, and good for HD Netflix, it needs:

    1) HDMI 2.0a
    2) HDCP 2.2 (this should be part of the first requirement)
    3) Hardware support for 4Kp60 Main and Main10 4:2:0

I don’t think the X5 Z8350 has all this, even if we drop the frame rate requirement to p30. I would like to see a dual boot TV box that did have all this.

    • I know it’s meant to do 4k30 fps. We really need the new apollo lakes and Core M3-7Y30 for the best video support. As it is I’ll check this one out. Interested to see how it will perform mainly as a streaming device with that 1Gpbs LAN port and dual band AC it should be good.

  4. I’m also interested to see a comparison with other tv boxes such as the one from xiaomi, voyo v3, h96 pro+.. I understand a Windows tv box will support webcam, but I’m curious if the android tv bkxes support webcam using skype or hangouts.. Thats the main reason why I would get a android/Windows tv box, so i do Skype calls and watch media..

  5. Would you know if this supports 4K?
