Chuwi SurBook IndieGoGo Updates.

Chuwi SurBook IndieGoGo Updates.

Chuwi has sent through a couple of updates on the SurBook via IndieGoGo to the backers that ordered one. The new prototype is expected to finish this month, they have just added a Chuwi logo on the rear kickstand made from nickel sheet stamping method. The housing as seen in the photos looks good, still no word of if that screen is fully laminated or not.

Specs of the Chuwi SurBook: 6GB of RAM, Wireless AC, 10,000mah battery, Windows 10 Home, Intel Celeron N3450, 64 or 128GB eMMC. Two USB 3.0 ports and type-c. The screen is the same as the Microsoft Surface Pro 2017 and Surface Pro 4 with active stylus support. I’m crossing my fingers for a Core M3-7Y30 version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB SSD.

And they just posted today a video demo of the stylus in action. I think it’s just the same as the Chuwi Hi13’s but with a new design stylus. Or it could even be N-Trig, but I doubt it.

The stylus input seems a little slow as seen in the video, no doubt caused by the slower Apollo Lake N3450.

  1. Do you think they’re doing it on purpose? Still no core M3, but the new devices are sold as expensive as core M3 brands compete! This strategy is surprising and dangerous for the Chuwi brand.

  2. Is this basically the same tablet as the chuwi hi13 but with the surface type stand built in?

looks like the exact same specs (slightly smaller resolution)

  3. As long as they don’t put Gorilla glass (or similar) on the screen, I won’t buy a Chuwi again.
Using a stylus without this is asking for ruining your screen, either by scratching it or by always having an ugly (scratched aswell) screenprotector applied.

    • There are tempered glass protectors, but I they are ugly. Fully laminated is the way to go.

  4. I think the Apollo Lake is enough for a 300E tablet/netbook
It’s just the stylus feature requiring a more powerfull CPU
    .
They should just acknowledge this and feature either both or none (stylus support&core-cpu)

    • Apollo Lake is good around that mark, true and it’s a lot better than the old Atom Cherry Trail. My guess is they are going to see how the sales go of this Apollo Lake version and then put up a Core M3 one on Indiegogo. At least I hope so! Or maybe give as a Surface book 2-in-1 larger style tablet with dock.

  5. The build quality on this device looks amazing for the price. It’s just that weaker N3450 processor letting it down. Please let CHUWI (or another Chinese manufacturer) bring out an M3 surface pro clone sometime this year!

    • It’s so odd how Chuwi has yet to release a Core M model, but Onda, Teclast, and Cube have! I’m sure it’s just a matter of time and they will be seeing the sales they are missing out on. Even a SurBook Pro version with Core M3 would be perfect! Even if its $100 more.

      • Agree with you Chris, all I have to do is waiting for the second Gen of SurBook.
