This one got my attention, it looks a lot like GPD Win2 I reviewed, however, it’s got so much more going for it this Netbook One Mix 2S. It’s one of the first Chinese laptops to get the new Intel Core M3-8100Y the successor to the Core M3-7Y30, it’s an 8th Gen chip with a max turbo of 3.4Ghz when thermals allow it to turbo that high. It has 8GB of RAM, 256GB PCIe SSD, 1920 x 1200p OGS touchscreen that can flip around to cover this tiny 7″ laptop into a little tablet. The little PC is fan cooled, and it even has a fingerprint reader in it. The only thing it’s really lacking is a web camera built into it.
It has stylus support and USB 3.1 type-c, and with a full-sized USB 3.0 port. The laptop runs Windows 10 and looks crazy for the size just what it’s packing in terms of hardware. Sure you’ll have the obvious issues ones I experienced with the GPD Win and Win 2, small keyboard making typing a little challenging, fan noise and a very small screen for Windows. However, this is an idea portable PC that you could plug into a larger monitor and use then if needed could be taken with you and still used.
I’ve ordered one of these to review, it’s not cheap $669 USD at Banggood. It’s on pre-order so not shipping just yet. Keep an eye out for this one. It looks crazy, I just hope the smaller size of it can handle a dual-core Core M3-8100Y without thermal throttling too much. I’ll be sure to test that as soon as I get it. And yes, Linux support!

These companies spend so much on hardware, yet fail to get a proper proofreader for their English translations. It doesn’t inspire confidence. If I was going for something that small, I’d get the Gemini PDA.

the butterfly keyboard from IBM comes into mind, now combine that with a foldable display, what should be available since years, you have a real keyboard a 14″ screen with a 7″ footprint.

Really impressive idea!

Great specs but price is crazy.

Mother of keyboard layouts O_o Never seen one so crazy!
It’s a shame that this nice hardware combo (last core m3, 8gb ram and even PCIE SSD!) are not more available on 10-12” laptops/2-in-1 from Cube or Chuwi. Celeron is the most used.

Yes I would rather see this spec in the Chuwi Lapbook SE for $499

probably because the battery life would be absolutely horrendous.
a 13-14 inch apollo lake would get 7-8 hours, while the same sized notebook with a core m3 would only get 5-6 hours.
downsizing the apollo lake notebook to a 10-12 inch and the battery life drop to 4 hours, you can do the math for how horrible it would be with a core m.
Astor
Not such a great pain. Cube i9 battery lasts about 6h and it has a core m3 (https://techtablets.com/cube-i9/review/). A Surface has a long battery life.
The problem is that there is no many options with cpus higher than a Celeron, even “accepting” the shorter battery life. Personally i don’t need so many battery hours on a laptop/2-in-1.
People who needs long life, go for a Celeron. The others go for a m3…

Funny how those bezels look slightly different on every photo. ?
Blackburn
yeah fake bezels lol

While I think the tech is cool, I continue to wonder just what is the main use-case for this kind of PC with an eye-straining screen size. Is it for women to carry in their purses?

I have a 9″ acer Iconia W510 featuring Win10 and a HD (not full) display
I definitelly think that 9″ is very close to the limit for the WindowsUI
and I actually have 13/10 (visus score)
I guess I can cope with a 7″, but there are just a bounch of people out there who can

battery lifetime?

probably will be average at best, maybe decent on account of the small screen size. this is pretty much a higher clocked 7y54 and the core-ms’ have pretty bad battery life.
Blackburn
4 hours is my guess with that battery.
