Teclast X16 Power Now Listed on GearBest for $359

Teclast X16 Power Now Listed on GearBest for $359

The Teclast X16 Power is now listed on GearBest.com for $359. The X16 Power looks to be the fastest Atom dual boot tablet around with its 8GB of dual channel ram and top of the line Atom X7 Z8700. This is the same chipset as the Surface 3 reviewed here, but with double the Ram. The X16 Power and Pro do support an activate stylus, which according to some is the same stylus as Dell’s active stylus used on the Venue 11 Pro.

$359 is quite a step price for an Atom tablet, even if it does have the higher end chip the price puts it into Cube i7 Stylus Core M territory. However, the Cube i7 Stylus doesn’t have dual boot.

I have the X16 Pro with the X5 Z8500 and 4GB of Ram hopefully arriving next week, it’s the same tablet. Just with the mid-range X5 Atom in it. Very interested to see if it will throttle or not.

  1. Finally came the X16 Tablet Power, so I some considerations about the product and about the purchase and shipment. The tablet does not have GPS, and does not have the light sensor. The screen is not very bright and the colors are not good, because the black It is not deep. The power supply creates problems of touch screen (that goes crazy, clicking randomly), but this problem can be solved with another power supply 5V 2A for tablets. Windows Home is licensed in English version, but for office 360 is required to buy an license. The RAM is fully recognized. The tablet shipped with DHL Express and bought by Gearbest, arrived after about a month, without the keyboard (which was included in price) and in open box (free of seal or cellophane). Windows was already started with profile admin, and the tablet was turned on several times, before and after my purchase, using both operating systems. Despite the good intentions of the seller, the expedition started from Singapore only after numerous customs checks, so I was contacted by DHL, which required my tax number and charged an amount of $ 60 for customs duties. I offer my testimony in hopes of being useful to others who are considering buying!

    • @Marco Salmora; are you located in USA? I know what a tax number is, i just dont know if I need to get one, did you have to get one? How did you pay the $60?

  2. Don’t be fooled by Gearbest’s seemingly low prices. You will end up paying a lot more.

2 weeks ago I had a $180 package arriving from Gearbest. I paid for expedited shipping. The shipper charged an extra $25 in administration fees and bank fees and storage fees, additional fees on top of the customs duty.

I’ve ordered enough product in the past to know that there are no additional fees. You just pay the customs duty.

When I emailed Gearbest, their customer service said I had to pay these arbitrary additional fees. Gearbest said said the shipper would destroy my package and Gearbest would not be responsible.

They said if that happened, if the package was destroyed because I paid only the customs duty and not the extra fees, they could refund 10% of the customs duty. Some nonsense item like that.

I made it extremely clear repeatedly that I would pay the customs duty but not additional fees.

I went literally 9 rounds with them and the shipper on this. Even though I had seen the customs paperwork and the clearly stated additional admin fees and bank fees and storage fees, the shipper later labeled the total amount as customs duties which was clearly a fabrication. After their first email showed a very clear breakdown.

So expect a very unpleasant experience filled with threats and ultimately, extortion. I was completely blown away. They may be splitting the money with the barracuda shipper.

I will never ever ever ever ever buy from Gearbest again.

It’s just a great lesson in how trying to save a few dollars actually ends up costing you a lot more. This product cost an extra $25 in arbitrary fees. Gearbest and the shipper are both deceitful and ultimately extort that money from you.

You’re not going to save any money. You’re going to be extorted an additional $25 per $200.

And Gearbest is going to play dumb throughout the whole process and then ultimately just watch you lose, as you knuckle under to get your package away from these thieves, DPEX, the local shipper.

    Don’t say nobody told you.

    • I bought a ChuWi Vi10 keyboard from Gearbest that arrived last week. It took about three weeks by standard shipping, ie postal service. No dramas, no additional charges, just slower.

    • Ben, too bad i didnt read your post earlier, I placed an order on Nov 30… Per Gearbest free shipping like you. Its now Dec 4 and still not shipped.

      • Update: It is now December 29 (30 days from order) and It still has not arrived. Below is the tracking message from gearbest.com . I dont have a tracking No, which they wont give me, so Im at the mercy of gearbest . As you can see from 24th to 29th, they report no activity. I called SF Express US, as that is the label printed on the picture they show you in the message center. SF Express cant find it in there system.

        • Update: 30DEC15: Today, exactly 30 days from order date, my Power PC arrived. Packaging was as seen in video. I did NOT have to pay tax or other fee’s. All in all im am satisfied with the product. I’ve played with the PC and I dont see any issues at all. The 8gb ram on the Power is helping and feels much better then that of the Pro version (based on video). My only issue is that i tried to update windows 10 and the 64gb ROM (32 gb used for android 32gb used for windows 10) was not enough space for a 12.3 GB update required. I did read that ill need a microsd card so i have purchased SanDisk 128gb from Amazon ($49). I paid $330 total including key board and for the price, i cant complain.

  3. I’ll be waiting for review. It seems Teclast x16 pro will be most valuable price/power/interfaces tablet at the 1st quarter of 2016.
Maybe Teclast will use for x16 power same cooling technology as used for x98 pro+ for Korean market to avoid overheating?

    • Hope so, my X16 Pro just arrived now, so I will be testing it soon and find out how the heat is. I couldn’t justify spending $340 on a Chinese Atom tablet, even for review. So I’m with you on the value of this X16 Pro VS the X16 Power.
