Update: 19th April. Chuwi have just posted and Bangood that orders will now ship on the 28th of April due to a delay in production.
Chuwi’s latest Android 8.0 tablet the Hi9 Air, is now up from preorder over at Bangood.com for $239,(scratch that it’s now $199 from the HK warehouse) it seems they must have exclusive rights to sell it first as I don’t see it listed anywhere else. This 10 core Helio X20 has 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, an 8000mAh battery, Mali-T880 graphics and a fully laminated Sharp 10.1-inch 2560 x 1600 16:10 aspect ratio screen. It also has dual 4G LTE SIM support which is quite rare, Wireless AC, BT 4.0 MicroSD and GPS. The body is only 7.9mm thin, made of an alloy and has a front 2MP and 13MP Samsung autofocus camera with LED flash.
It looks promising based on these specs, I’ll be sure to review this one, so keep an eye out for my review in a few weeks time. It’s due to ship on the 19th according to the website.

Hey, i just registered to ask this (but am a regular visitor):
Can you check and verify, if it has Project Treble support? This would be super important for me and i think many many others..
It would mean amazing custom ROM support, and no dependence on updates from chuwi. This would the perfect tablet, without any rival!
Another thing: Are there any good bluetooth keyboard cases/covers on the market, preferable with german QWERTZ layout that are usable for casual to medium writing workloads? And maybe even backlight?
Thanks in advance, and props to this great website! I am a china tech fan and buyer for over 5 years, and this website is hands down the best source despite the numerous competition!
Greetings
Eli Ben-Shoshan
For those that need it, here is an article on how to check for Project Treble support:

Chris G
Hi, I’ll be sure to check once I get it.

Project Treble is going to depend a lot on the quality of the system’s design and implementation. This could all become a bit of an issue for the Chinese manufactures as few of them seem to currently get involved with the Certified Android device program
https://www.android.com/intl/en_in/certified/partners/
This may start to show up on all new devices from China as a number of extra steps required to get the Google apps installed and running as it seems that Google Play Services has started to verify the status of system images with dates after March 16th.

TO ALL:
Thank you all for your help! Seems it is more complicated than i thought! But maybe there is hope now that GAPPS are blocked!
And i am looking forward for your review Chris!
Greetings

So is this the same screen ratio as Huawei M5 8 as this looks considerably ‘squarer’ from the pictures?
Chris G
yes 16:10 ratio. Not sure why must be the bezels?

If you select the HK site, the promotional price is USD 199 …. while the promotion lasts.
Chris G
Ah that’s even better. Thanks will add that to me post.
