Chuwi Hi12 Dual OS Stylus Version Coming

Chuwi Hi12 Dual OS Stylus Version Coming

Today Chuwi released a teaser video on their YouTube channel which shows off what a lot of you have been waiting for. Dual Boot support and pressure-sensitive stylus support. Chuwi went all quite on us about a stylus version, but finally, we get to see it in action in this cheezy promo video so it’s very real.

The stylus looks to be using an active stylus tech, similar to the active stylus used on the Teclast X2 Pro or Cube iWork10 Ultimate.

Now the current Hi12 out on the market with Windows 10 is a very decent tablet with a great 3:2 ratio screen, I’m still using mine and it can only get better now with Dual OS. I hope do Chuwi offer up a flashable dual boot bios and ROM files for us current users. I’m sure they will, they have in the past.

No word on a release date, but knowing Chuwi it’s gong to be a bit of a wait as we still haven’t seen any Chuwi Hi12 keyboards ship. I’m crossing my fingers for a Hi12 Pro or Vi12 model with an Atom X7 or Core M 5Y10 version of this and a revised keyboard with black keys, not white!

  1. Today I made cancel of order from GEARBEST: see it here:

  2. For those interested, Banggood.com have stock of the Chuwi Hi12 Dual OS and are shipping now. Chris, if you were buying new, would you buy the dual boot version over the Windows 10-only iteration? If so, why? Thanks – and nice weekend!

  3. HI @chris Do you have news about Stylus version release date? I’m very interested in this tablet due to your review and size. Do you know if other manufacturers will use this screen too? Keep on the great work. Regards.

  4. At last! Here’s the long awaited Chuwi Hi12 keyboard dock in action. Pan ahead to 7.55 mins into the video at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rxci52dTGM

    Happy Easter!

  5. Thanks for the news and reviews – loving it! Do you know if any of the dual boot tablets allow Android to read & write to the Windows NTFS partitions? (Any chance you can comment on this as part of your reviews – perhaps for the minority of us who prefer dual boot for productivity rather than gaming, and want to access documents created in Windows while in Android?)

  6. If the Chuwi Hi12 has the same screen as the Surface Pro 3, then maybe the Chuwi Hi 12 stylus will have the Surface Pro 3’s N-trig digitizer as well? The 256 levels of pressure sensitivity would fit that form factor? If the Chuwi Hi 12 stylus could then include the M3-6Y30 chip at a reasonable price point I would be very interested indeed. Dual boot would be the icing on the cake. Maybe I’m hoping for too much from a cheaper Chinese tablet?

The Huawei Mate Book is a mainstream device which is going to be at a lower price point that I would consider for a Windows tablet. It has the Wacom AES digitizer and the lastest Core M chips. There’s no way that I’m paying £800 pounds for a Windows tablet that will be outdated within a year like the Surface Pro 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S.

    • N-trig was brought buy Microsoft I think, I doubt it would use that due to cost. But it does make sense since it matches the screen and maybe they got hold of old Surface 3 Pro ex-screen stock?

  7. And I bet the keyboard still won’t be out when it launches…
Question about dual boots. Does the android OS side of dual boots normally use less power?

  9. What’s the difference between the Wacom STylus of the Cube i7 and the one Teclast is using on their x2 pro?

    • Different tech used. The Wacom stylus doesn’t require a battery and the active one does. Both claim to have 256 levels of pressure sensitivity. WACOM is the more favoured tech for this, used in most pads where you have to sign in post offices and it’s what the Samsung Note series uses. But Wacom Digitizer has to be part of the screen and it’s more expensive.

      • So does the active stylus (the wacom is “passive”?) connect via Bluetooth then? If the technology is not part of the screen, how does it “pair” and transfer touch information to the tablet?

        Thank you for your answer.

      • In fact, the Cube i7 Stylus wacom pen has 1024 of pressure sensitivity, not 256 (4 times more).

  10. I highly doubt that it’s a good pressure sensitive stylus if they showed it off on the commercial using Microsoft Paint, which doesn’t support pressure sensitivity.

  11. Shiiit 🙂 Yesterday I ordered Chuwi hi12. Nevermind I dont need android, stylus will be good. Bud today I got cashback from giving assistant so final price for my Chuwi is 178,81$.

Chuwi HI12 original price is 224$
    4$ code INTEL03 is 219.89$
    10$ – PAYPAL bonus is 209$
5$ registration on giving assistat is 204$
25.19$ cach back from giving assistant is 178,81$

  12. YES!!! FINALLY. Been waiting on this forever. Hopefully the hi12 doesn’t have any problems. Like Chris say’s.. The Chinese tablet lottery lol.

  13. The official forum has their staffs saying current Windows versions do not support dual boot… ever

    • Orz, the link please, bro

      • The admin answered the question a couple of times in this forum thread: http://forum.chuwi.com/thread-132-1-1.html

It is just a forum administrator responding so I’m not sure how much he/she truly knows… but I went searching for this when the Hi12 Windows was on sale and that’s why I haven’t bought one yet. Honestly, windows on a tablet really just isn’t for me.

    • Argh, so if we want dual boot we have to buy the new model? That sucks.

  14. A stylus and Android are wasted on me, as far as large tablets are concerned, but I may ‘upgrade’ my Hi12 to dual boot, with your help, Chris. Quit love it as it is. As for the promised official keyboard, I’ve opted for a much more attractive alternative:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oFDr78mO9Y

    • Nice video! Glad you got your Hi12. So what do you think of the screen, considering the price? I think it’s one of the best there is at the moment. I’m really enjoying mine. Nice keyboard set up, I’m just using my Logitech Bluetooth travel keyboard on my Hi12 and it’s working well as the width is almost the same as the keyboard and the case is used as a stand.

As for stylus support, it will be wasted on me too, as I’ve only touched my Surface Pro 4 stylus once since getting it. I’ll flash dual boot on mine once it’s released.

      • Thanks Chris, but my video nonsense could never come near those by a pro, such as your good self. Most of my friends spend silly money on the household names and I just wanted to alert them to the tech from China. I also signpost them to you, of course. As for the Hi12 screen, my eyes are thrilled by it. I also appreciate its USB ports, as I ve yet to warm up to the C-type ports which is becoming increasingly common. I see that that’s the port on the new $899 Galaxy Tabpro S Windows 10 offering by Samsung. Mad money for a tablet that looks like the Hi12. I do love its keyboard though and only wish our beloved Hi12 had something like that. Ah well. Many thanks once again.

    • I am trying to find another alternative keyboard and case for the Hi12.
      Chuwi Hi12: size: 296.7×202.8×8.9 mm
Samsung Galaxy TabPro S: 290.3×198.8×6.3 mm
      Apple ipad pro: 305.7×220.6×6.9 mm
      Microsoft Surface Pro4: 292.1×201.4×8.4 mm
      Microsoft Surface Pro3: 290.0×201.0x9.1 mm
      Microsoft Surface 3: 267.0×187.0x8.6 mm

I hope the case, protection glass of Microsoft Surface Pro4, with similar size, can be adapted to Hi 12.

  15. Great, released 2 days ago in their facebook.
Chris, are you sure this is the ‘same’ Hi 12 rather than an updated version.
I just order my Hi12 from Gearbest, hope can receive it before May… bad experience with my last order.
    Thanks a lot in advance,

    • Well looks to still be called the Hi12, They have called it the Hi12 Stylus, or Pro. May? Maybe, one thing with all my experience buying from Aliexpress, Banggood, gearBest, Geekbuying and the others is the products do arrive, but you need LOTS of patience. Most of them are slow to ship out.

      • Thanks for the quick reply, Chris.
I do hope the ‘old’ Hi12 could support Stylus by simply flashing the new dual OS.

      • My ordering from Gearbest was shipped out today, mark to see how long does it takes?
