Chuwi’s Corebook crowdfunding is now live on Indiegogo. This 13.3″ Core M3-7Y30 tablet with optional stylus and keyboard has 6GB of RAM, 128GB eMMC and a fully laminated 1920 x 1080 screen with 2.5D glass. The keyboard has a wide-angled hinge and also doubles as a cover for the tablet. The pricing starts at $399 for just the tablet (limited to 50 units) and $439 for the tablet + keyboa...[Read More]
The Surbook Mini is due to be released today. This is a smaller version of the Surbook I reviewed. It’s built around the 1920 x 1280 3:2 aspect ratio Surface 3 screen. 450 nits bright and fully laminated, so this should be a decent display, exactly the same as my Surface 3 Atom Z8700 I had back in 2015 and it was a good panel. The screen also supports an active stylus, the Chuwi HIPen H2. Th...[Read More]
Out of all the Celeron N3450 laptops, I’ve looked at these 3 here are my top picks. These laptops share the same chipset the Intel Celeron N3450 Apollo Lake, Intel wireless AC, full metal builds and are completely silent as they are passively cooled. They all have SSD hatches on them for quick and easy installation of a 2242 SATA3 SSD and their bios has unlocked power limits settings. All of...[Read More]
The Lapbook Air review is now online. This latest N3450 laptop is by far the best with 8GB of RAM, backlit keyboard and 128GB eMMC 5.1 spec drive and SSD slot. The screen is also the second best, nothing can top the Lapbook 12.3’s anti-glare Surface Pro screen. But this glossy, glass covered 1080p IPS is bright, with deep blacks and good colors. The glass is fully laminated really makes that...[Read More]
Thanks to Spemerchina for pointing this one out and the others that PM’ed me. It would seem the Lapbook 14.1 I reviewed from Chuwi has had a revision, not a minor one but a new PCB design and there are some positives like a new heatsink made from copper. The only one was only tin and not so effective requiring my copper heatsink mod. But the battery size seems a little smaller and changing t...[Read More]
This Chuwi Lapbook Air could be the last Apollo Lake N3450 laptop I review, and possibly the best one? Maybe even topping the EZbook 3 Pro V4. It’s also the first Apollo Lake laptop to get 8GB of RAM, only a few Apollo Lake mini PC’s use 8GB and the rest of the laptops I’ve reviewed have 6GB or 4GB. So it’s great having the extra RAM. Update: 12th October. Looks like there might be a dark grey version also? Looks great in dark grey. Update: 10 October. The Chuwi Lapbook Air is now up for preorder, $336 for a limited time with coupon chuwinew02 over at Gearbest. Slightly better than the first price of $379. I’m aiming to review this one, looks great with the backlit keyboard and 8GB of RAM. I hope Chuwi gave use unlocked p...[Read More]
Good thing I took my time with this review, as the first batch (my unit) shipped with a bad touchscreen driver. This resulted in an insensitive touch panel where not every touch input would register. Lucky for my review the updated driver was released by Chuwi and this solved the issue. Making the tablet very usable as a result and not frustrating like before. Below is my video review of the Surb...[Read More]
As I reported in my Surbook unboxing video I noticed that the touchscreen wasn’t quite 100%. And after talking to Chuwi support about the insensitive touch issues I was having with my Surbook, they were aware of this issue on some first batch units. Mine was affected, not every touch input would register, resulting in a lot of typos using the on-screen keyboard and frustrating use. Well, the...[Read More]
Chuwi has just asked via Twitter to their followers what specifications are we all looking for in the next Chuwi device? Of course, I let them know my thoughts. Intel Core M3, 8GB of RAM USB 3.1 Type-C and fully laminated screen. And also I commented to just add a Core M3 and Type-C USB 3.1 to the Lapbook Air. But make sure you let them know, tweet them the specs you think their next device should...[Read More]
The Surbook arrived at the studio, most of the orders of the 128GB model have shipped if you’re one of the Indiegogo crowd funders. 64GB models to follow. The tablet has the typical Chuwi brown box packaging for the type cover and tablet. The stylus as I suspected is the same model as the Hi13’s the HiPen H3. Below is my unboxing and preview while I work on using it for a week or two b...[Read More]
Update#2 – According to Chuwi France, the N3450 is just the initial CPU used in the Lapbook Air, so there is some hope still of a Core M3 version. Update: Specs updated and first hands-on video of the Lapbook Air shows a very nice looking design and build. Looks a lot like the Mi Notebook Air. Anyone understand Polish? Is it that a mini HDMI port or Type-C? I can see just by looking at the k...[Read More]
