Teclast have released a new bios update for the X98 Plus, I discovered it on the Official Forums here. No idea on what it fixes, something to do with slowness bug? Maybe slow wifi, although I haven’t experianced this myself. The update tool is in Chinese, but I figured out how to use it using google translate. When you come to a screen where it asks for data to be added. Type in your X98 Plu...[Read More]
Thanks to a few members of the site and YouTube comments pointing out this one, it seems Teclast have quietly downgraded the Atom Bay Trail in the X98 Air 3G from the Atom Z3736F 2.16 Ghz to the Atom Z3735F 1.83Ghz. There has been no official word from Teclast on this change on Weibo or Teclast.com. My guess is they have simply run out of Z3736F tray’s and have switched to using their remain...[Read More]
Today I uploaded the below video. Just covering the speed a little of the X98 Plus, with some benchmarks, battery life and a look at Asphalt 8 Airbourne. And the thermals. So far the good: Battery life, screen, and thermals. The performance is unimpressive, it almost feels as if Teclast’s engineers have limited the turbo duration to keep the temps down. I never expected much out of the lowes...[Read More]
DHL finally came through today, their customs dept stopped messing about with my X98 Plus and delivered it. Heres the unboxing and hands-on video. (I’ll have more in the next few days) As you can see in the video, the build is the same as the X98 Air III. The new square edge metal unibody housing. First impressions: eMMC is a Toshiba 064G70 and speeds are good. Performace is much like the Z3...[Read More]
Ever wanted a full sized USB 2.0 port on your X98 Pro? I know I have, well forum member Idris has done just that. There is a spare USB header on the motherboard, which with a bit of soldering skill means you can wire up a USB pen drive internally or like what Idris has done add a female USB 2.0 connector. It also powers an external hard drive, so not bad. Handy for those that really must have a fu...[Read More]
I would have had my Teclast X98 Air Plus today to start my review process. But DHL Spain is at it again, my shipment is on hold. Happens so often, takes 2 days to go from China, Germany and onto Spain. To then sit with DHL Spain for a week. I hope to at least have the X98 Plus this week now, but they still haven’t even called me back to at least find out what the issue is. I also have a Cube...[Read More]
I’ve just finished up reviewing my Teclast X98 Air III, it Teclast’s budget Retina quad-core tablet. This model is the single OS Android 5.0 32GB version. It’s a mere $125 from Banggood.com with their coupon c930c6, so dirt cheap. Since it’s a Bay Trail Z3735F, its a step down from the Z3736F in the X98 Air 3G & Air II in terms of performance. Here’s is my full vi...[Read More]
Teclast Korea seems to have their own improved X98 Pro+ version. Now I don’t read Korean, but user YouJoon Park does and has pointed out it looks to have some unique features over the X98 Pro. The chipset remains the same Atom X5 Z8500 (2.24 Ghz) with 4GB of Ram, 64GB eMMC and dual OS. But it has something new, a GrafTech eGraf SS-610CU thermal solution (Aka heatsink). So Teclast is addressi...[Read More]
I received my 32GB Teclast Air III today, this is the single OS only model with Android 5.0. But it can be flashed to dual OS is you feel the need. The 64GB model is Android 5.0 / Windows 10. The housing of the tablet now has that new squared off look, instead of the rounded off edges the X98 Air 3G/Air II and X98 Pro have. I’m not sure I like it as much and prefer the rounded edge as it mak...[Read More]
Today if DHL and FedEx deliver on time, I will have the new Teclast Air III, their budget retina slower Atom Z3735F Bay Trail. This model is dirt cheap at $130 for a retina 4:3 tablet and can be flashed to dual boot Windows and Android if you want that, Teclast did release the files to convert the Air III to Dual OS for this. So I might flash mine over to dual boot later on and write it up if ther...[Read More]

Banggood.com still have the cheapest price on the X98 Air 3G dual boot, Android 5.0 and Windows 10. With the new bios updates, Android 5 and Windows 10 has given the X98 Air 3G a new lease of life. And if you don’t need the extra graphics power of the X98 Pro I reviewed, it’s still the best dual boot 4:3 Retina tablet out there if you ask me. And if battery life is your thing then the ...[Read More]
