A two new deals have popped up online, while most other retailers have put the price of the recently review Chuwi Hi12 up to $279 and even $299. Gearbest has lowered their price to $246 for a limited time for the black and grey version. The white and gold version is $249 just a few dollars more. And the Cube i9, the first Chinese Skylake Core M3-6Y30 12″ tablet with kickstand has been droppe...[Read More]
Just finished my Chuwi Hi12 Review, if you’re thinking about this model I recommend you have a good look over the review and the included hands-on videos. Being an Atom X5 Z8300 with 4GB of RAM we know it’s no beast, but it performs quite well for the hardware it has. Good eMMC speeds no doubt help and overall I’ve enjoyed using and reviewing this tablet over the last eight days....[Read More]
Voyo’s vBook v3 is a larger version of the Onda oBook 11 I reviewed. Unfortunately, it shares the same issues. The screen high pitch whine noise, USB 3 port issues and a new one. Trouble waking from sleep. While the price wasn’t bad at $232 (Was on special offer, plus some rather expensive postage) I don’t think it’s worth it unless Voyo fix these issues. Sure the build is ...[Read More]
After my unboxing and first hands on with the Chuwi Hi12 I felt the screen brightness just wasn’t enough on the 2160 x 1440 Samsung PLS panel, nothing like how I remembered it to be on my Surface Pro 3. Luckily the brightness being dimmed a little was due to Intel’s graphics power saving settings. Disabling it pushes the max brightness now to just over 302 cd/m2 which is better. I also...[Read More]
Didn’t expect this on to arrive until after Chinese Spring festival and New Years. My Chuwi Hi12 arrived today, it’s Chuwi’s new large 12: tablet and the first tablet outside of Microsoft to use the 12″ 2160 x 1440 screen the Surface Pro 3 uses. What’s special about the panel? Well its a 3:2 ratio panel, has a 2160 x 1440 res and 216 PPI. So looks sharp. I got this un...[Read More]
This arrived yesterday, one of only two items that made the Chinese Spring Festival close down 2th to 14th most sellers have. It’s like the Onda oBook 11 I reviewed, but a larger 13.3 inches. It’s a shameless Lenovo Yogo 2 clone that doesn’t hide the fact. Looks very similar and copies that 360-degree hinge. It must be made by the same ODM as the oBook 11. Only recently Voyo anno...[Read More]
In this video comparison, I compared the Chuwi Vi8 Plus, Cube iwork8 Ultimate, Teclast X80 Plus and Onda v820W CH. These tablets are very similar spec wise they all have the same resolution screen, 1280 x 800. They have the same eMMC size (32GB), 2GB of Ram and Atom X5 Z8300 CPU. But which one is the best? Some key differences & findings: All four tablets more or less perform the same in bench...[Read More]
So we have the first Cherry Trail 8 inch dual boot, about time. I only hope Chuwi follow and do the same with the Vi8 Plus and Hi8 Pro. Here’s a quick look at the Android Rom, some benchmarks and a little gaming on the iwork8 Ultimate. Overall the rom is great, only 3 Chinese apps which are removable. The DPI set in the build.prop for the Rom is perfect for the screen, resulting in a sharp i...[Read More]

Cube’s new Skylake Core M3-6Y30 powered i9 tablet was recently announced, up until now we only had all the info and promo images in Chinese. I found these on Aliexpress, advertising promo images of the tablet in English. The Cube i9 is currently listed from $509 on Aliexpress, due to Chinese New Year it’s unlikely to ship out until after. I’ve ordered mine for review here, but I ...[Read More]
Update 28th: Nothing we didn’t already know from the Twitter posts. The unit is up for sale for $299, but we know GearBest has it for $50 less so really it’s $250. Maybe the $299 is Chuwi’s Amazon USA price? (Chuwi are now selling in the US via Amazon) It’s safe to say it was just a little publicity stunt to get some Twitter followers on their new account. In a first for a ...[Read More]
Update: The Cube i9 is now listed on Aliexpress.com, the cheapest is going for $509 which is around a $50 mark up from the cost price of 2999 yuan in China. It’s cheaper than the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 M3 which sells for $899 and fingers crossed Cube will have a big sale on it like the i7 Stylus and heavily slash the price. As a Surface Pro 4 user myself, I know it has a better build, Wirel...[Read More]
