Hands-on video with the Chuwi Vi8 Plus, I ran through my usual benchmarks, tested out the speaker and type-c port. Sadly it seems the type-c port is only USB 2.0 spec and not USB 3.0. It will run my 1TB Toshiba basics 2.5″ HDD, but speeds are limited to 40mb’s. Considering the tablet doesn’t come with an adaptor and we aren’t getting anything over USB 2.0 speeds I’m n...[Read More]
Chuwi has released the full specs on the Hi12, and some more photos of the unit. It’s shaping up to be a very interesting tablet, metal unibody, full sized USB ports, keyboard dock and that screen. It will be released first with Windows 10 and later as a dual boot with Windows and Android. Previously thought to have a 1920 x 1200 screen, the Hi12 will, in fact have a Surface Pro 3 2160 x 144...[Read More]
Chuwi Vi8 Plus is now out and I got hold of one yesterday, it’s basically a black Chuwi Hi8 Pro with the Vi8’s lower spec screen. (1280 x 800 resolution) The Type-C port, Atom X5 Z8300, 2GB of Ram and 32GB of the Hi8 Pro are there. It’s $91.99 from Banggood.com with the 8% off coupon f4644d. First impressions: Just like the Hi8 build, but in black Speaker is average, same ...[Read More]
I’ve been searching high and low for an image of the dock for the up and coming Chuwi Hi12. Finally came across this image: Since the tablet is a large 12″ this gives Chuwi plenty of space for a large keyboard and touchpad. What I don’t understand is where is the touchpad? There looks to be none and those hinge joints look a bit odd. I wonder if this is the official keyboard or s...[Read More]
I know a few of you are after more info on the Hi10. Well, I’ve updated a few videos to the TechTablets YouTube channel with benchmarks and other tests. Just to confirm a few things, the battery life looks to be around 6-7 hours depending on use, but this was with the screen set at 50% brightness. While the build is more plasticity, it’s definitely a step up from the Vi10, the screen i...[Read More]
Been a while coming, but I finally got my Chuwi Hi10, the Vi10 successor. After reports of the first batch running only 32bit Windows with 2.9GB of the 4GB of RAM usable, so I held off on my order as I didn’t fancy having another first batch to deal with the problems that arise. So my Hi10 is here, sorry for the delay. Unboxing, hands on, storage benchmarks and speaker test is below. First i...[Read More]
Chuwi’s Hi10 Windows 10 64bit version is now in stock at Banggood.com, according to them this is now the second batch with the corrected 64bit Windows 10 image and not the first release 32bit one. So you get the full 4GB of RAM and you’re not limited to 32bit apps and only 2.9GB usable RAM like the first one. Banggood’s price is $189, $169.25 with coupon 3F3128 (7% off)
Thanks to Przemo in our Chuwi Hi10 Forum we now have some hands on photos and feedback of the official Chuwi Hi10 keyboard dock. It looks similar to the Asus Transformer Book keyboards, with that same locking mech style and the way it slots in place. There’s also a USB 2.0 port on the right side of the dock. Some photos of it in action: (Thanks Przemo) Overall it looks okay, click here to re...[Read More]
I recently tested out the new Chuwi Vi10 Ultimate, the upgraded Vi10 which the new Atom X5 Z8300 in it. The tablet is an improvement in some areas over the Vi10 and in others it’s not much of a step up over the Atom Z3736F By Trail. The design is exactly the same, a solid build with front and rear tempered glass. The Vi10 Ultimate boots up quicker than my Vi10, but in most benchmarks it̵...[Read More]
While we wait for the Chuwi Hi8 Pro which has been delayed. Chuwi’s Vi8 Plus, a black Hi8 with an 1280 x 800 screen has been released. Banggood.com has it in stock now for $99, and I’ve just ordered one for review here on the site and YouTube channel. The Vi8 specs are the same as the Hi8 Pro. Just the screen is the only change and it’s now in black. Specs include: USB 3.0 Type C...[Read More]
Hands-on with the Chuwi Vi10 Ultimate (Cherry Trail X5 Z8300 version) I just received. It’s the upgraded Vi10, one of my favorite tablets. The design is the same, it remains unchanged and keeps the key features that made the Vi10 so popular. Two full sized USB 3.0 ports, micro USB for charging and the keyboard dock. I picked this one up from Banggood.com for $174 and the delivery was around ...[Read More]
Some new images on Weibo from Chuwi, show they are working on a Hi12 Windows 10 tablet, a completely new model with a 12″ 1920 x 1200 screen, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, micro HDMI, MicroSD and USB type-c port. It’s powered by an Atom Cherry Trail (Hopefully an X5 Z8500) and 4GB of Ram. Edit: It seems the tablet is called the Hi12 and not the Vi12 now… The rear of the tablet has a metal u...[Read More]
