I have the same with a jumper 3s – BUT it is only with a USB3 reader, nearly all other USB3 and 2 devices I have work fine.

Try different devices and see how it works out.

I also have a funny thing with a 128GB usb3 drive – when it is connected to the USB 3 port, then  the wifi gets bad. If I put a extender cable or power monitor stick between, wifi works normal.

Some of the ultra cheap ultra books just have their quirks and you have to figure out how to work around it.

    Need Help?

    Ciao Ernst Kuzorra,

Yes Bios “can see” perfectly the WD120 SSD, list it, and allows to  boot from it.
But it doesn’t. I mean i can tell to boot from but i keep booting from emmc.
I made several experiments. For example i set the OS to  linux-intel in BIOS (even windows 7 option).
Brightness 5 to 10%, keyboard locked but the power button keeps being effective, “hold pressed” for around 10 seconds it restarts
to override the ineffective keyboard i plugged a usb keyboard (even a wifi 2.4 is ok).
Doing so, in the complete darkness (with a torch for the keyboard) i realized that:
those Linux based program (like Acronis recovery “written” on the usb) runs smoothly.
When BIOS OS is set to Windows it freezes the laptop
I think that Giovanni skills could allow him to detect if in those BIOS-OS choices brightness is set to minimum and Keyboard off.
From My point of view the original coders didn’t develop the bios as it had too…
Never saw, such kind of problems!
Thanks again! I can take and post pictures of bios pages if needed.
    Nice evening to everyone!!

Assuming that you want to install Manjaro as the sole OS on your EzBook 3 pro (sanDisk emmc version):

    Before we begin

    1. Fully charged EzBook 3 Pro (better to be plugged in)
    2. One usd memory stick with at least 8gb space
    3. One usb memory stick (even the smallest one)
    4. Wifi network

    Preparation of  USBs

    1. Download refind (https://sourceforge.net/projects/refind/files/0.11.2/refind-flashdrive-0.11.2.zip/download) o.11.2 and use Etcher (https://etcher.io) to burn it to the smaller capacity USB memory stick.
    2. Download Manjaro XFCE Edition (17.1.2) (https://manjaro.org/get-manjaro/) and use Etcher to burn it to the bigger capacity USB.
    3. In both cases select GTP partition table.

    Instalation

    1. Insert both usbs into Ezbook ports.
    2. Boot and press F7
    3. Sellect to boot from select the rEFInd USB drive partition 1 and in the rEFInd boot screen select  the Linux icon labelled MJRO1712 (depending on the edition of manjaro you have downloaded).
    4. Do NOT press enter. Press f2 TWO times and edit the line so that boot parameters look like this
      misobasedir=manjaro misolabel=MJRO1712 linux=boot\vmlinuz-x86_64 initrd=boot\initramfs-x86_64.img
the MJRO17xx part depends on the version you have downloaded, so append accordingly (i.e. for manjaro 17.1.1 write MJRO1711).
    5. Press enter to boot into manjaro desktop. If the trackpad doesn’ t work reboot, enter BIOS, exit without changing anything and repeat steps 2 to 4.
    6. Connect to Wifi and start the installation guide.
    7. Choose custom partition and delete all partitions.
    8. (Assuming that you will install on the emmc) Use GTP partition table and create a 512mb fat32 partition with mount point /boot/efi and flag it as esp. Create a partition for root (mine is 25gb ext4), mount at / and flag it as root, create a linuxswap partition (mine is 6gb) and finally create a /home partition (mine is ext4) and mount at /home. Follow the rest of the procedure and finish installation.
    9. Reboot and remove manjaro USB. At boot press F7 and select rEFInd USB drive partition 1 and in the rEFInd boot screen select  the linux (booting from your 512mb efi partition).
    10. log in, open add/remove software and search for refind-efi.
    11. Install it, exit add/remove software, open terminal and type “refind-install“, give your su password and press enter.
    12. remove rEFInd usb and reboot.

      Thats It!!!!!

      Fully working linux system………..!!!!!
Wifi works, touchpad works with multitouch (tweak the setting for tap to click and cursor speed).

In the next posts. I will try to write some suggestions for customization and power tweaking.

Big Thanks to Brad and his thread (https://techtablets.com/forum/topic/how-to-install-manjaro-linux-on-jumper-ezbook-3-pro-v4/) !!!!!!!

ok … so couldn’ t wait and

    1. wiped out all partitions, including windows on emmc.
    2. followed Brad’s guide.
    3. created new efi partition on emmc,
    4. /root (25gb), /swap (6gb) and /home (rest of the gbs) on emmc and /data on m.2 ssd (m.2 shows allot of problems with bad sectors so not worth the risk)
    5. Installed normally.
    6. Booted with usb refind and installed refind.

SUCCESS!!!! It boots normally minus some errors during boot (probably have to do with m.2)
    TRACKPAD WORKS FLAWLESSLY!!!!!!
All devices work flawlessly. Wifi has strong signal.

    Advice:
Depending of the edition of manjaro you have downloaded, you hat to change the bold  part accordingly.

    In my case:
    misobasedir=manjaro misolabel=MJRO1704  linux=boot\vmlinuz-x86_64 initrd=boot\initramfs-x86_64.img

    had to be
    misobasedir=manjaro misolabel=MJRO1711 linux=boot\vmlinuz-x86_64 initrd=boot\initramfs-x86_64.img

    Hello all,

now i´m ready with my upgrade of my EZPAD 6 pro. I´d like to show you what i´ve done, and how. I made some mistakes and want you not to do the same.

It´s necessary to have a external Keyboard witch is recognised by the BIOS, if you can not enter your BIOS: STOP here! ( I bought my Device with opt. Keyboard and didn´t try any other Keyboards like USB etc.)

Micro HDMI Cable to TV Set can help, if you make Errors in Bios Settings, and have then no LCD anymore…( I know, what to do wrong…. 🙁  )

But First, my Aim was to speed up the System and getting more Space on HDD. So I installed a 256GB Trekstore SSD. This was not so difficult, but open the Case to remove the Backcover broke the Conector of the keypad. So be carefull when open the Backcover and leave the 4 Screws on the lower side installed untill you have opend the top, the left and right side. Start with the top side. When done remove the screws and pull off the backcover in direktion the keybord conectors shows. ( The conector gets throu the cover so you have to pull the cover over the conector.)

After install the ssd, reassembe in backwards order.

Now i had to look into the BIOS to see, if the ssd is recognised. You find it under “Chipset – South Cluster Configuration – SATA Drives”

Go into it and found! Just Switch “SATA Device Type” to “Solid State Drive”.

I didn´t want to leave the chinese OS on the device, i prefered Win 10 pro, so Bitlocker and Domain Login is there available.

But for fallback Needs, i leave the emmc untouched.

So first is to disable the eMMC in Bios, you find it under “Chipset – South Cluster Configuration – SCC Configuration – SCC eMMC Support” and set it to disable. If SCC SDIO Support is already enable, disable it too.

Prepare a Win 10 USB Bootstick with the Windows Media Creator Tool. Mount the stick at a running Win PC, open the FileExplorer to look in the Stick. Search for a Folder named “Sources” and open it. Here you create a new Textfile named “ei.cfg” and open it with a Texteditor. Write in it:

    [EditionID]
    Professional
    [Channel]
    Retail
    [VL]
    0

and save it. Be sure the Name is not “ei.cfg.txt” , just “ei.cfg”.

This will bring you direkt to Win 10 Pro, otherwise Win will install Home Edition.

If you want, you can also do with with your Win 10 Pro Product Key:

In Folder Sources generate a txt File named ” PID.txt” and edit it with:

    [PID]
    Value=XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

where the Xes are your key.

    Save all, remove the Stick.

Insert the Stick at your EZPad an Power on, Start BIOS and Change Boot Options #1 to Boot your Stick.

I choosed the 64Bit Version, because all my Driver i have are 64Bit.

Win Setup will start, i had to delete all the Partions on my SSD and create new. Win will create so all nessesary Partions.

While install, dont give your WIfi Password, just scip this item.

After Install is ready, check all devices. You will find many error in the device Manager. But dont worry, you already have all Driver on your eMMC!

So, back to BIOS and turn the eMMC on again, reboot, again to Bios an check the first Boot Order ist Windows Bootmanager of your SSD ( Bios Shows also the Boot Manager of the eMMC, the right(new) Bootmanager is ” Windows Boot Manager (P0: )”)

Reboot Windows and look for the eMMC as second Storage. Maybe you have to allow the File Explorer to Show hidden and Systems File. Inhere you will have the old Windows Folder, your Drivers are in Subfolder \system32. From here you can install all Devices,

In my Systems there are two devices missing, somehow like I2C devices. But they also missed in OEM Win. So dont worry, this seems to be normal.

If you are not satisfied with your work, just Change Boot Order back to your eMMC, and all will be the old OEM System.

Finaly here some Fakts of the results:

Write and Read Speeds eMMC(Drive D) vs SSD(Drive C): (winsat disk -seq read -drive c)

(winsat disk -seq read -drive c)</span> : 527.58MB/s (Index 8.1)

(winsat disk -seq write -drive c): 416.71MB/s (Index 8.0)

(winsat disk -seq read -drive d): 145.51MB/s (Index 7.1)

(winsat disk -seq write -drive d): 15.37MB/s (Index 3.3) (and no, this not a typing error)….

Thanks for reading this, and please don´t make me responsible for any dammage at your Hard and Software. This is not a Tutorial!!

My EZBook arrived 4 days ago, and there’re a lot of problems with it. In this thread I’ll share my experiences with you, and update the thread when I discover something new.
    1. Flickering screen and noise: At low brightness (lowest 2 positions) the screen has a noticeable flickering, and a quite audible high pitch noise, it reminds me to the noise of an HDD when the reading head is moving, just higher. The flickering is not always there, for example as I write this, I see no flickering right now. But I think I’m getting used to it, so maybe I’m not noticing it as easily, however I’m sure if there’s some flickering, it will cause me a headache eventually, even if I’m not noticing it. And even when the screen is fine (for example at higher brightness) the high pitch noise is still there, just somewhat different and a little quieter. For me, the noise is more irritating, than the flickering. Here’s the noise: https://youtu.be/FmjFKHf5IgI.

    2. WiFi compatibility issues: I have a TP-link TL-WR1043N v1 router for quite some time, it was used by around 15 laptops and PC-s, and around 30 different mobile phones. None of them had any problem with it, not a single one. The Jumper’s wifi chip is the first one, which is not compatible with it. It keeps disconnecting, not usable at all. It works fine connected to my Android Hotspot, but I haven’t tested it with anything else yet. Still, I’m pretty sure that this is a compatibility issue, because the WiFi chip is not working with my TP-link router, but working with the Android Hotspot. I will test it with other routers in the future. Also, with external USB WiFi adapter, it works fine with the router. (I note, that I did check the antenna connection on the motherboard, no visible problems there.)

3: BIOS functionality lacking: This version has the “EVALUATION COPY” BIOS, which lacks almost every functionality. I want to unlock the TDP limit, but now the easy way is gone. I’m looking for your BIOS changing experiences, maybe I’ll update it to a more usable one. Also I should note, that I didn’t check, but others have problems with the boot order, and booting form the USB. I’m planning to install Linux on this laptop, and install M.2 SSD, so it will be a problem for me.

4: Microphone low volume: The built in stereo mic has a really low volume. It’s not a direct problem, because Skype and other softwares can handle it, and amplify it by software. But this causes terrible audio quality. So you either lean close to the mics and shout, or sounds terrible.

5: Backlight leaking: Every Jumper owner knows about the backlight leaking, but it’s a matter of luck how heavy the leaking is. In my case, it’s pretty bad, but I’ve seen worse.

6: Slow EMMC: The EZBook 3 Pro v5 has a SanDisk SDW64G EMMC drive, and I’m not happy with it. I don’t have any experience with SSD so far, but I think that the system should be faster and more flowless. CrystalDiskInfo did not recognised the disk, strange. But I managed to test it with AS SSD Benchmark. See the attachment. I don’t know if it’s good or bad, but in reality it’s not enough. But I’m planning to install an M.2 SSD anyway.

Positives: The keyboard is fine so far. It could be just a little more sensitive, but I’ll get used to it. The touchpad is the best I’ve ever tried, the gestures works around 95% of the time. Could be better, but it’s still the best, I’ve tried. The FN+F6 PrtSc button works as it should. There are a lot more positives, but these are the ones that get better in the v5.

Minor issues: The audio and the charger jack is the same diameter, and not marked, so you don’t know which is which. I did plug the charger to the audio jack once. The power-on status led is always on, it’s annoying at night, and it’s on in sleep mode too. The micro sd card slot is not deep enough, the card sticks out a millimeter. The FN key is detected by the motherboard at low level, so the operating system can’t see it: you can’t make your own FN shortcuts. Chris said in his video, that the USB and the jack should be farther apart, and I didn’t believe it’s a problem, but it is: I couldn’t use my external WiFi adapter, the charger, and a headphone at the same time. One of the screws at the bottom is covered with a warranty-void label, well I guess I have no warranty now.

Ps: Is it possible that the high pitch noise is not coming from the screen driver? I think that it might relate to the CPU usage. At least a part of it.

which wifi model is installed in the EZpad 6 pro? maybe i can find the driver from other sources … (maybe the hardware identification number) ..?

My EzPad 6S states Realtek RTL8723B Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adaptor. Could well be different for the EzPad 6 Pro though. They are similar specs otherwise (6S has more RAM).

There is nothing on the Realtek website for this model: http://www.realtek.com/Downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=21&PFid=64&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

I actually tired to find a better driver for this as mine doesn’t cleanly resume after putting the tablet to sleep. A full shutdown is fine but after sleep it won’t reconnect to the network. I have also had the occasional issue where it won’t connect when it boots and ends up disabling itself. A reboot fixes this too.

You referenced installing this and curious what process you followed like using the standard Intel Phone Flash Tool like we do for a standard Chuwi build, TWRP, Rufus, or otherwise.

Basic instructions would be greatly appreciated and I also noticed other posts about the latest Bliss supports both Touchscreen, WiFi, and Audio via Bluetooth on Hi12.  Actually, any help would be appreciated since I’m tired of Windows 10 (I’m pretty certain most people are) on my Chuwi and will probably move to using the largest gpt_53gb.bin file and setting up as a dedicated Android device.

Also the latest Bliss bleeding edge release came out on 12/30 less then a week ago.  Has anyone tried this build (<span class=”label” title=”Bliss-v10.0-PC_Beta–OFFICIAL-20171229-1246android_x86_64.iso”>Bliss-v10.0-PC_Beta–OFFICIAL-20171229-1246android_x86_64.iso</span>) and had better luck with Audio and can live without Audio using only Bluetooth since this is what I do anyways.

Thanks for the reply when you have a few minutes,  Sorli…

Update 1:  Tried the latest Bliss Bleeding Edge build, but no go using Dec 2017 builds and wasn’t able to get touchscreen working, WiFi functioned after a couple of tries using a Mouse and Keyboard for input, and not sure what’s different boot from USB and locally (besides Chuwi BIOS not automating this process). Would love to hear some experienced user input on getting Bliss to work on the Chuwi Hi12.   Thanks again…

    Hi everybody.

I’ve installed a clean version of Windows 10 via Usb, formatting the previous partition. Everything works fine except of Wifi!

I cannot see it, even in device manager the broadcom adapter doesn’t appear!

How can i solve the problem in order to use the wifi??

USB network dongle works fine on the HI12 on the Windows side since drivers are available. No way to make it work on the android side since, … to my knowledge, no drivers are implemented , nor available.

Just another point of clarification ther is no such thing as 5G wifi,  there is wifi n with two frequency ranges,

2.4 Ghz   or 5 Ghz, I suspect this is what you ment?

I have also tried a USB to ethernet adapter, same issue, works fine on the windows side doesn’t on Android.
